Yeah, with more and more graybeards dropping of their perches every day, the preponderance of purplehairs having zero physical skills and no desire to acquire any ("my dream is to be a social-media influencer and glue and tools and paint are dangerous and icky anyway...OMG OMG OMG!!!"), and the concentrated global effort to destroy the petroleum industry, plastic models are on the short-time list. Gather ye rosebuds while ye may...

Through the looking glass is somewhere I haven't managed to go yet.

Interesting, as that kind of thinking is pretty much alien to me. Half the time, people have no real idea of what it is I'm trying to accomplish, and while I do appreciate those responses that "get it", for the most part, I just don't care. I'm my own harshest critic, and I judge my own work from the standpoint of having looked critically and honestly at a lot of really good stuff done by other guys over the years, from whom I've learned more that I ever imagined I would. So if something lives up to my standards of "good enough", which are pretty dangity high, that's good enough.

One of my favorites as a kid......Big Al Allison powered drag car

Just for everybody's information, the AMT parts-pack Allison engine, sold as a stand-alone kit originally, was indeed repopped and boxed with several other parts-pack trees over the years. -

Way cool. I well remember that crazy thing. Nice job. -
Several times, we've been lectured that it's because of "logistics" we mere mortals are incapable of understanding. So apparently the current synonym for "logistics" is "stupid", because dog knows, I'll never understand the amount of stupid that somehow passes as something else.

Long-term thinking and an understanding of much of anything in the physical world are in increasingly short supply, that's why. Common sense and what used to be "common knowledge" are no longer common. Whatever you encounter that's poorly thought out traces its heritage back to the same root causes.

"Forever" sometimes ends in a few months or years if marital partners don't honor their promises.

Awareness of your surroundings makes it much more difficult for those slobbering toothy aliens to sneak up on you.

I feel your pain. Every time I think I'm finished buying, I see another build on here that sends me off looking for "just one more", and in the course of the search I come across several more that I "have" to have. But it's way cheaper than sitting in a bar for hours every nite, literally flushing money down the john, and nobody's ever been arrested for driving while in possession of a ridiculously large model stash...and I never ever get a hangover from working late on a model.

I just this minute finished the hardest part of the custom instrument panel I'm doing for a client's DeLorean (a stepped, brushed aluminum bezel that surrounds the custom instrument faces and matches the brushed finish of the body), one of the last two jobs I'm finishing up before I can get the rest of my stuff moved west. Is it perfect? Nope, but it's nice enough that nobody but me will ever know where the flaws are. With this part done, I can go ahead and make the dozens of little parts that hold everything together, locate the LEDs behind the warning light symbols, and wrap up the panel illumination. I'm as happy as a clammed clam...and that's pretty clammed happy.

Looking good. I wouldn't a thunk I'd like that color combination, but it's really attractive. Very nice, sir. -

Great info here. Makes me think we otter have a pinned "TOOLS" section in the Tips and Tricks area so stuff like this doesn't get lost in the continuous shuffle. -
Paint recommendation?

Excellent...and yup, at the scale we're talking about, those spokes will not have a discernable metallic look. -

Vastly improved stance as compared to out-of-the-box builds. The colors really work well together too. Nice one.

Sure would like to see some clear, high-res photos to illustrate all the expert advice. -
And speaking of pi...it's been calculated to over 62 TRILLION places behind the decimal point, and still it ain't quite right. How "perfect" do you want to get? EDIT: And also speaking of which, I've always thought pi was a marvellously sublime cosmic joke. Pi is, of course, the ratio between the circumference of a circle and its diameter. On the surface, this looks like it should be a pretty simple relationship. But try to calculate the EXACT number...you never can. It's an irrational number that keeps going to infinity. I think it's maybe the universe's way of letting us know that, no matter how hard we try, there are just some things that seem simple enough, but that we'll never really fully understand...and it's prudent to know when to quit.
