Thanks guys... And Dan thanks man, the crazy ideas are my favourites ! Quick update, last cage was too thin so ive restarted a new one in brass and plastic, not yet painted ! New console and interior panels too, more soon and thanks for looking !

Congratulations Chris, This is not only a masterclass in scale automotive modelling but an incredible feat, of dedication, precision and patience. Yes you had some hard times with it, we all saw, but to complete a build like this is phenomenal ! Hope your extremely proud of this, you deserve every bit of praise ( and trophys! ) you receive !

Haha love the Patient Bear ! Ok i`ll put him out of his misery..... So heres the twist, or should i say, twisted chassis ? Unfortunately it does happen, im not copying any real race car colours etc but cars do crash ! It should go on a small base, a bit of race track..... -

Wow nice job Mack, Roof looks lower on yours, has the roof been chopped or is it standard OOB ? -
Looking good so far, nice fix on the bonnet fitment ! My son just passed his test recently, and he loves these cars. Been thinking of building one for him, so this thread will be useful in future. I'll be following along, hope the build goes smoothly !!

Love it, just Krazy Kool ! Would like to see some build up shots, do you have any ?
-
Had an idea for doing this for a while, love the 55 Ford shape and the kit looks pretty good so far.... So far ive bleached a lot of parts, including the bodywork chrome as Im painting it all body colour. Engine has been started, found some tyre transfers and started the rear end, i also extended the wheelie bars as i like the look of them longer ! Not following the instructions exactly ( I never do ! ) Trying to make it look a little bit more of a modern pro mod... Drag cars are a little bit out of my comfort zone, so ill be coping pics off the net instead ! And as for the twist ? More later, but Ive not seen one done before like this, hope it should be good !

Always good to see kids getting into building cars, helps you to learn about the real things too ! I Yes show us your builds, it's good encouragement to finish them when posting them on here !
-
Whoops, thanks Alex your right, it's the Revell version , with the silver car on the box ! I was impressed with the kit, so thought it was a Tamiya , goes together well, at least the bits I've used did anyway !!
-
Wow I'm always impressed when someone can improve on a standard factory design, it's a lot harder than you think to get it just right ! Very clever how you fitted the new roof, do you melt those little ridges in for strength, or for adding filler ? Well impressed I'll be watching !
-
Thanks guys ! Gary... The Audi R8 kit I've used is by Tamiya. Sonny... Good to hear from you, bout time you impressed us all with another build ! Yes the engine can be seen through the rear window, the boot opens , and I'm hopefully adding twin turbos in there ! Jason... Think the skirts are being left off, your right they don't really match ! As for the cage it's just plastic tube but I think it's a bit thin. I've run out of tubes so I'm waiting for more to arrive !
-
Great Idea, there's just not enough of these Show Rods being built ! Frame looks fine to me, and that body is just perfect , I'm looking forward to more !

Looks very good, if your serving your apprenticeship then I'd say your ready for a few mods !!

Fully detailed Pagani Huayra..Under Glass
Lowlife ! ! replied to Dann Tier's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Wow.....Just read through the whole build, and its incredible ! ! I love reading through these kind of builds, regardless of the type of car, the threads are an inspiration to most people. ( ok so i do sometimes think afterwards, Oh #$@% it Im packing in this model car hobby ! ! ) To see a model come together, with such patience and detail , can inspire us all to create better cars. Thanks for taking the time to carefully photograph and explain the process, im in awe of your skill and look forward to seeing it complete..... -
Incredible build, I'm usually not interested in die cast conversions but this looks superb ! Lots of scratchbuilding has really improved this model, took me a while to work out it wasn't a kit ! Great job, one of the best looking pro touring cars I've seen on this forum !
-
Thanks for your comments guys, The original plan in my head was to keep the outside of the car totally standard, two tone paint with all the chrome intact So thanks Russel, I like the idea of adding air scoops ( it was also suggested changing the rear roof scoop as the engine is below it ! ) But I'm still thinking of keeping it standard. Don't think the side skirts will stay either... Although things might change, I'll get the rest finished , and leave the body until last !
-
Once the boot floor was added again, it left room for a big diffuser... And here it is mocked up with side skirts, im undecided about these. Still waiting for more tubes to continue the cage work, but this is now up to date ! Thanks for looking....more soon !
-
It was getting confusing by now, so seemed easier to work from the front, then backwards. So i added some detail under the bonnet .... Then added seats, console, and started a scratch built cage.
-
Well at least Jim likes it, thankyou ! The 58 kit has a seperate interior floor to the chassis floor, so i altered this to fit the Audi chassis pan ... The boot floor was then seperated, and i slightly channelled the interior panels to fit level with the body again, as the it sat too low..
-
Hi guys... Been a bit quiet on the model car front lately round here, but ive finally hit on a project thats got me hooked again ! Had this 58 ready for a Lowrider build, but it rapidly veered off course and is now Audi powered ! First i was playing around with wheels, and tried Audi rims and tyres....... Liked this, so the Audi R8 chassis was stretched and narrowed, and each suspension component altered to narrow and lower it further. There is a bit of camber added too to help fit it all in...... The Audi mid mounted 32 valve V8 is a squeeze but does fit ! ! Might be adding twin turbos in the boot too ! More soon, and thanks for looking..........

'32 Phanton -Foose build -update 2/11/18
Lowlife ! ! replied to Rocking Rodney Rat's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Wow some serious chopping up, looks amazing you've captured the proportions perfectly ! Must admit I prefer it with the fenders, but hey who cares ! ! Be watching this, should be another masterpiece in the making ! -
Well it IS something I would build, just not as well as you have ! ! Great job Luke, your usual still wet looking paintjob is perfect, great looking skyline mate ! ! Now get back to the Lowriders...
-
Coming along great Henry, really looks good in orange i can't wait to see it all polished up ! !
-
Another step forward ! Taking a time this, i want it sitting flush with the wings etc when viewed from above, but its also got to sit level with the chassis and miss the headers, front suspension etc ! Finally decided on matt black, and a textured finish ! Hopefully this is a little more modern looking. Added a flush mounted radiator cap and air vents for the rad too. More soon when i get the engine cover designed ! !
