  1. Oh my God, an advanced custom option ? ? On an otherwise standard version of the car those options look horrible, but somehow if you chop the roof up like that, it makes the crazy front and rear end look good ! I'll admit you get full marks for imagination, and I can see this really working out ! If it's anything like any the rest of your builds this is going to be one to watch, I'm with you all the way buddy !
  2. Wow, such a detailed project you certainly have some skills ! Looking forward to seeing your other builds, and also more progress on this one ! With all the details on the back of the cab etc why don't you add a tilt bed ? Show off all the rear axle and wide rubber ?
  3. Joe, Dann, thanks guys ! Im doing bits here n there on this, weathers still naff to even primer so im still cutting stuff up ! Dashboard was next, wanted a different look so ive smoothed it ! Here it is before , sorry forgot to take a pic of the real thing ! Chopped out the drivers section... And heres an interior mock up, maybe a centre console next ? ( dash not quite finished off yet! )
  4. Added a bit more to this, i wanted to fill the gap in front of the radiator so ive continued the smooth sides, down to the front. The front panel has to fit exact or it lifts the body away from the engine bay. Covered the radiator bulge in plastic, and removed the bonnet pin panels from the sides. Bit more smoothing and i can primer it next ! Hemi has been started, its a bit tight in there but does fit ok ! More soon, thanks for looking !
  5. Haha, thanks Dann its so much easier working with cardboard, i also save the chrome effect card you get in easter eggs etc and use it on my lowrider builds.. You can engrave it too as its card ! Thanks Sonny i do love those style of cars, Foose is the master, and some of the Ring Brothers stuff are the best detailed cars ive seen. Not sure about saving detailing work later though ? When you add these smooth panels you also have to think about how it looks from underneath, and the bonnet has to close properly, engine has to still fit etc ! I think its probably easier to add the details in the bay rather than smooth it all ! As for the engine, it has a HEMI so its going to be big whatever happens !
  6. Nice to see you back building Sonny, looking forward to more progress on this !
  7. So i thought id start with the engine bay ! First a smooth firewall, and inner arches from cardboard........ Then transfer to plastic, and a bit of trial and error..... this !
  8. I think its a really good kit, very well engraved and detailed etc. Yes ive heard the arches are a bit wide for a Cuda, but generally im well pleased with it. After seeing Dann Tiers cuda build i might see about purchasing the p/e set for this, which is very good ! Not an exact copy, but im going for something like this beauty, which ive had as a screensaver on the PC for ages !
  9. Just started my next build, a 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda, this one to be precise !
  10. Still being blown away by this, great stuff Luke Im loving this build !
  11. Great stuff Stitch, I love the karmann ghia, not seen this before it looks a right little sleeper !
  12. Really nice work on this so far Michael, I'm looking forward to more !
  13. Started this for a 1 month build off, on another forum, well i actually didnt start it until the 10th so its a 19 day build ! It started with an old 33 body that i wedge-chopped, the rest is nearly all out the parts box ! Makes a change building something this rough, not the most detailed thing i ever built, but it was more of a painting exercise than anything else ... Paint is almost 20 shades of brown, green, black and an orangy mess, all brush painted ! Also some pastels and chalks were thrown in too ! Hope you enjoy the pics, im off to get a tetnus shot after building this thing !
  14. Hi Luke ! Must admit this is one of the best chassis building tutorials I've seen . Some great advice and tips here ! Remember seeing one of your cars before with a scratched chassis and it was a big inspiration to try it for myself ! really looking forward to more on this, should be an awesome build with the truck n trailer !
  15. Thanks guys, Well its a rolling chassis, just ! Still more to add, wheels etc are not quite finished yet, but heres how it stands now ! Oh and the grill shell has been chopped ! Im keeping the bodywork quiet for now, more soon !
  16. Hi Eric, great to see you back building again ! Love the manx, great imagination and engineering. Can I suggest a tiny change, your sketch is fantastic but I think the roof and Targa bar are a little tall ? Your sketch just looks more streamlined, and looks longer and lower. The roof somehow makes it look shorter ... Ive commented on plenty of your builds before, you know I'm no expert , its just my opinion mate ! Really look forward to more progress on this
  17. Had this body sitting around for ages so thought id chop it ! Then decided to sort out some hot rod bits n bobs from the spares box and its evolving into this ! Steelies are 57 Chevy, 32 chopped grill and dashboard, the rest I just found ! ( The grill has been chopped more since the pics ) Going to be really rough, and on the floor, just a cool little rod for the shelf !
  18. Great to see this being built Dann, I enjoy your work, and it just so happens i`m about to start a 70 cuda myself ! It was clever of you to spot the grill mistake, im still thinking of getting the p/e detail set but id be interested to see you try it first ! If you cut the grills out and replace with a p/e piece wouldn't they be too sunk in ? Or do you add plastic sheet first ? Also why do the shaker scoops always look too low on the models?
  19. Looks amazing Joe, the tyres have that real rubbery look, is the lettering on them a stencil or transfers ? don't think I've seen such a shiny General Lee, it was always dirty from all that racing around Hazard County !!
  20. Michael, thanks for the advice, not quite sure on body colours yet but I'll try and remember that when it comes to paint ! And Leroy you should build one at least, they are nice kits if you take your time with them !
  21. Im still playing with this, thought id start on the chassis next. Only a slight adjustment to the ride height, its subtle, so nothing too low this time ... I wanted the top of the tyres to sit just inside the arches, back was easy but the front a bit more complicated. Ive always liked the look of just plain metal, like the rods you see with just a clear coat. So im trying it on the chassis, lots of details to add yet but its a start ! Im happy with this stance now too....
  22. Each to his own, and all that, I like the plate there ! The surround you made is a great touch also ! Look forward to seeing it complete, very nice job !
  23. Looking good, it's always nice to try something new , hope it all works out ! I spent nearly 2 years building one of these into a full show car lowrider, there's a lot of potential there !I Using 5 spokes is cool, these are usually used on earlier style rides from the 60s n 70s, that's not to say you can't have them on a later style though ! That's a good thing about these cars, rules are fairly flexible !! Look forward to seeing more !
  24. Wow now that's cool paint ! Anyone know if it's transfers or paint ? Awesome build ! and back to the original thread, thanks for posting those cars up, it's always going to cause a debate but they are great models and it's always good to see well built cars featured !
