  1. thats cool, one of those things that just looks right ! Love those wheels, looking forward to more !
  2. Thanks guys, glad you like it ! I'm busy fitting a firewall surround at the moment, and very carefully cutting open the drivers door.... I've now attached the body to the floorpan permanently, to keep things straight , but think I'll just do one door open !! And Sonny i enjoy models for the imagination and creativity, nothing against factory stock but I like to try ideas out, this is just getting carried away Lol !
  3. Looking good, great colour ! I have the convertible version still awaiting paint, it's a good kit I might grab another for parts !
  4. Hey Sonny ! Shame about the bad luck with the decals, I had a similar issue with my hemi cuda decals they look perfect horizontally, but were out of line vertically ?? Luckily I could scrape them off pretty quick ! The gold looked great, maybe a darker base next time will get you a better match ? Look forward to more on this mate ! !
  5. Wow I'm blown away ! Not been about since the engine build started, just incredible , how you get your parts so accurate and in scale ! ! Really like the anodising, looks even more real with a bit of colour !
  6. Wow, incredible bodywork so far ! It's very much like watching one of Mr Bouttes builds , the window trim is a perfect example ! Love the original car, it's one of the few that look better without the rear wheel covers (Ahh what are they called? ) Looking forward to more on this !
  7. Thought id introduce you to a bit of a long term build, my 64 Impala ! So there was a catorgory at Lowrider shows for Radical builds, its all a bit more subtle now, but i used to love those cars, so I thought id build one ! So whats going on ? I never did like standard, so heres the ideas... So far ! the whole back half of the car will tilt up on hydraulics split front bonnet / wings joined, and tilting upwards split rear boot/rear panel joined,, probably opening up the same as the front ! opened rear section by the bottom of the rear window chassis needs boxing ! will have suicide doors, scratchbuilt fur/mirrored interior, and a detailed chassis with complete hydraulic install... maybe a new front and rear end style, roof chopped and a split targa roof, tilting up ! Can only do a bit at a time, theres nothing left to glue together otherwise.. ! The floorpan is an old one i'd already added a smooth firewall too, and later broke ! So this is repaired and going in the mix, with smooth floors underneath ! Hopefully i can get this back to being one piece again, wish me luck eh ! !
  8. Thank you all for the comments, I really appreciate it !
  9. Dann, they were posted up soon after the message above, hope you like it !
  10. Thanks Keith, but I changed my mind again, the exhaust tips are gone and the rear valence is going back on !!
  11. Finally finished this one up, took way too long but they all do... ( theres a build thread in the work bench section if your interested ! ) To summerize... Paint was done with a few white primer coats, it was then painted chrome, then thin coats of bronze metallic, 4 or 5 coats of clear, then polished out ! Each layer was wet sanded before spraying the next ! I love the colour it changes in the light, still not upto some peoples level but its getting better ! Scratch bits include the dash, centre console, firewall, engine bay, radiator surround, exhaust tips and the intake system. Also smoothed the front valence, door handles, mirrors and rain gutters. The bumpers were thinned and added closer to the body, and the front and rear lights tinted, rear valence removed ( but i might add it back later when ive cut holes in it ! ) Photoetch steering wheel, number plate surrounds, bonnet pins, tamiya disc brakes, and the suspension chopped about to slam it ( notice the sump scratched ! ) Had to add Foose plates, as a tribute ! sponsor decals add to the SEMA look i like to imagine ! Thanks for looking, loads of pics now !
  12. Thankyou for the comments guys, shes all finished up now so pics will be in the finished section soon !
  13. Outstanding build Guy, excellent paint job again your getting really good at this stuff ! And keep em coming, more lowrider builds please ! !
  14. Thanks guys, been busy but hope to be back on this ! Suspension is as far along as i can go, need the floor/interior/body together before i can finish up the front suspension ! So its bodywork time.. ☹️ Smoothed door handles and mirrors, both have big holes to fill. Plus a smooth front valence with the wings blended in, and the bonnet pins smoothed off ! im loosing the window surrounds too for a cleaner look ! Primer coat coming up and paint next ! !
  15. Another cool paint job on the way ! Looking good so far mate ! I spent nearly 2 years building a show car version of this kit, got a bit carried away ! It's a very good kit, I'm looking forward to seeing this one come together !
  16. Incredible work going on here, the rad looks real ! Amazing thread, not many of us will reach these heights in accuracy but it's fun to watch ! As for paint, could I suggest something bland ? Silver maybe ,with a bit of patina? You want people to look at the bodywork, not a colour that distracts from all that work !
  17. Thought id have an update, slowly getting back into this as i recover ! Still more engine bay work, i needed a radiator and didnt have room, so i made this ! Fits around the intake and covers up the ugly pulleys etc... Starting to piece the suspension together next, this is a hard one to lower, but its getting there.. Hopefully more soon, then painting time !
  18. Really nice build, it's not the easiest of kits to get looking right, but you nailed it ! Great paint and detail, you obviously spent some time on it... Every time I see one of these built i want to build one, great display too !
  19. Truly odd ? Yep.... Works way better than it should ? Also true ! But If you have an imagination, and the skill to pull it off .... It just WORKS ! I love it, like most things you build, it's just Crazy !! Can't wait to see more of this one mate !
  20. Looking good KK, the woodys coming along well, and looks even better towing a woody boat ! !
  21. Looking very nice, I do like a fenderless 33 , I have one on order now ! If I remember right, your supposed to add the interior first, then the roof ? Is there any problems fitting the roof and then adding the interior in afterwards ? Looking forward to more on this !
  22. Hey KK any more progress on this beauty ! I like to see RRRs 33 build too , that looks sweet ! Your fans are waiting ! !
  23. I wanted to mention, just from my own experience.... Molotow pens are best for small parts. It you can, use 1 stroke, don't go over it. You won't get a decent finish on a wider surface, the result is similar to brush painting... You'll see uneven lines. Personally I've cleared the chrome with future, and not noticed any less shine. Although I've handled molotow painted (drawn?) parts, and found it doesn't show fingerprints. Can't really say the base colour has much effect, the chrome pens are fairly thick, I've had good results straight onto bare plastic. I still use BMF for window trim etc , simply because the pens won't give a straight enough line. Hope that helps !
