  1. Thank you guys ! PROGRESS ! Finally ! Just got the chassis and engine in paint, and i swear its un-photographable ! ! EVERY picture looks like a different colour, its driving me crazy ! Sooo.. ive tried a video instead, and it still looks dark ( the paint is more similar to the above blue ! ) But i love it ! A couple of coats of white primer, 3 of electric blue, 8/9 coats of flake and around 6 coats of clear ! Luckily im thinning most paints, so its not that thick a coat on it ! VID-20200722-WA0000.mp4
  2. Wow, amazing work ! Must admit you build the most realistic looking engines I've ever seen ! Love all those linkages and wiring, just incredible !
  3. Glad to see this continue, again, great work, that interior is just so clean !
  4. Looking forward to this one Dale , boot mural is cool where's it from ?
  5. Thanks for posting that Jim, crazy truck eh ? Alien Toy is an extreme demonstration of hydraulics, but would compete in bed dance competitions, similar to hopping contests. These are usually hydraulic shop demo vehicles, no engine, interior etc. A few of these ideas make it into radical show cars , not always a driver , but a complete car ! I just like these style of cars, as crazy as you can imagine with every inch painted, chromed or polished ! I realise it's not everybody's favorite style, so thanks for following/commenting i appreciate it !
  6. Thanks Nigel I've got to admit, it's built to be displayed 'opened up' so not all of the panels will close . If you look at the door hinge they are designed to be removable mainly ( for painting, or transporting when it's finished ) but won't close flush. Sorry if that's a disappointment but I'm not going to pretend it's perfect ! Yes , there were some crazy builds like this in 1:1, but it's a lot more subtle these days ! And cheers Sonny, wish I could just stick to an OOB build like your BMW sometimes, but it's fun getting carried away with a project isn't it ! I'm sure your next one will be crazy detailed again !
  7. Bit more madness going on... ?? The bonnet was next for the hinge treatment, both of them ! One side actually opens normally, except the front wing is attached to it ! The other side was a pain to figure out, opening gullwing style ! If you look at the pics i added a tube ( with a reinforced plate ) to the firewall, to add the hinge to ! I might add a further tube before final fitting, so it runs to the radiator support ? Also i was thinking of the hydraulic install. Normally (for those who dont know) you create a box section `rack` which is mounted through the floor to the chassis, so the boot floor is not supporting the weight of the batteries and pumps. As the floor lifts up on mine i cant do this ? So ive cut out a hole in the boot floor and everything can mount to new chassis crossmembers . The top suface of the chassis has been smoothed too, and a new crossmember between the shock mounts ! Should look better as the chassis and hydraulic install can be viewed seperate to the bodywork ! Anyway, more pics.... (and excuse the toothpick ! )
  8. Looking good mate, your doing well keeping it simple ! I've seen some beautiful examples of these built, in fact it's the only BMW I'd consider buying !
  9. Talk about 'bad to the bone' , wow that things tough ! Awesome car, very professional looking build too , you must be so proud of it (and deservedly so! )
  10. Looks so cool as a wagon, I'd like to build one myself ! Look forward to see what happens with this !
  11. I like to see unusual stuff being built, makes a change from 32 fords etc. ! That's the good thing with these, you can add a bit of imagination and make it stand out ! Good luck with it, just remember lower is ALWAYS better ! !
  12. Thankyou guys ! Thought id try a new idea with the glass next, i did brake the original cutting the shape out but luckily i found some flat glass to use ! The front screen surround is gone, and its now mocked up a liitle high, it will be lower than this. I also shaped the rear roof differently... Needs a channel maybe to fit the glass into, but this is the new shapes !
  13. Coming along great Nigel, look forward to the finished pics mate !
  14. VERY cool flames, I've never seen anyone try a pinstripe round flames and they look so much better for it ! Might try those paints you use, painting has always been hit n' miss for me so I'm interested to try them !
  15. Wow , every single piece is so meticulously fitted ! The pic of the radius rod looked like a pic of the real thing till I noticed the grey primer ! Great thread there's a lesson for everyone reading this !
  16. Thankyou guys ! Had a slight delay with this, got the chassis boxed at the rear (as it will be seen) then tried painting it... .. Silver enamel base, then purple flake nail varnish... For some reason it turned the filler back to a paste ? ? So I smoothed it out and cleared it... That reacted ! It's warped the chassis now, but luckily I found a spare ! ( Why have I got a spare chassis, I don't remember building one without a chassis ? ? ) Anyway Ive started it again , think I'll stick to a plain colour next time ! So while chassis is still being boxed, i played with some more hinges ! Boot was fixed to the rear light panel and cut in half, then i had to decide which way to hinge it ? Couldnt decide, so i went with both ways.... These work too, ( and dont touch, the pics look like they do ? ) they are still removable, but the boot can also close !
  17. Enjoying this one Nigel, wheels are perfect i really like the idea behind this ! Smoothed , lowered , with billet wheels suits most cars, but a wagon just looks so much longer ! Look forward to seeing more on this, more Brit built customs ! !
  18. Sometimes you gotta try these things ! Maybe use the later wheels, and engine , and interior parts ? Drastic is cool ! ?
  19. Nice clean build, and I love the colour ! No the wheels ain't for me, but like you say, who cares ? It's your project, being built how you like it, slabs are like donk's, they have their own crowd ! It's different, which is a good thing, so carry on Sir I'm watching this !
  20. Hi guys ! New floors are added underneath, door jambs and a new idea, `drawbridge doors ! !` Im posting this to show you the hinges mainly, this is how im doing them. Yes its cheating, but these are simple. Only the black rubber is glued so the door can slide off. Easier for painting and also if you transport the kit anywhere, it wont snap off ! They still look hinged, and could still work (if i`d glued the door jamb in correctly ! ) i can hide most of the hinge with fur so it wont be seen anyway !
  21. Looking forward to this one Dann, looks like an awesome project !
  22. Coming along well, I really like this project ! Great chop too ... You can just reply to the original thread with new progress, keep it all together ? Look forward to more on this !
  23. Thanks for posting those, man that 53 is beautiful... Some cars just need the slightest changes and look so much better. I wouldn't change a thing it's perfect ! And looking at that buried fender... That explains where some of your crazy ideas come from !! Lol ! Thanks mate, and yes get him to join up !
  24. Looking good Eric, must be on the home stretch soon ? I recognize your 260 but who's is the Chevy ?? (More pics please ! )
  25. Thankyou guys ! Hey thankyou Sam ! if you mean my new shape custom bug, im waiting for the shops to reopen, when i can get paint i`ll be back on this at some point ! Been playing with this one again today, one door cut out and im making the door shuts. Then i attacked the rear floorpan, ugly bits chopped out and new floors made up ! try the front half next.......
