Hey David, looks like you nailed it! I seen a lot of these in north louisiana & s. arkansas in the early '90's. I had a Mack r and a freightliner, both w/ sleepers hauling wood chips, lumber and would not hesitate to hook on to a pole trailer. There was some good money in pulling logs back then if you didn't mind getting your truck dirty! Oh, and if you hauled into Bastrop, that sleeper came in real handy. A 3-4 hr wait was normal! Seen a lot of good looking large cars come in there with a pole trailer. Nice job! -

Well, on further review the worst thing that took a hit was my pride....and maybe my diffibulator! -
This was supposed to be in "under glass" by this afternoon! While moving it to take pics, hands not being what they used to be, dropped it in the floor. Although alot can be said for the holding power of clear Gorrilla Glue!

Wow! Glad to read all of this, I thought it was just me. Takes forever to post something and then may have to repost 3 or 4 times. LOL, just had to repost this reply twice! -
In high school, I was known as "the artist". Spent much of my time drawing pics for everybody. With a good set of brushes and several cans of one shot enamel, turned it into a pretty sucsessful sign business. Drove a truck hauling lumber by day, doing signs & truck lettering nights & weekends. Got out of trucking, bought an auto body sho ,and spent 20 years breathing who knows what. Now after 2 heart surgeries, back surgery, and a pacemaker, I'm back to building models! AND found out last wednsday that I probably will not be around to write something like this this time next year.....IF I had only gone to college in the first place...

What would they be?
signguy2108 replied to signguy2108's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Terry, I'm still working on him, but he still has the first bycicle his parents ever gave him,if that tells you anything! I think it would be easier to get into fort knox than that attic. -
I was talking to an old friend last nite that is 60, I'm 57. He has boxes of old model cars (built and unbuilt) that we had growing up in the 50's & 60's sitting in the attic of his parent's old house. Knowing him to be somewhat of a hoarder, I don't think they will ever see the light of day! That got me wondering, What are some of the most valuable kits in the world today?
-
Decided to finish this yesterday. Pretty much a snap kit, lenghthen the frame, old 20" split ring wheels, and a few other small changes. Got several half-dones sitting around that need to be finished. Hpoe everyone made it thru Thanksgiving!

signguy2108 replied to Swamp Dog's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Good looking truck! Didn't use to see a lot of this type trailer in this area, most were folding nabors trailers. Oh, how I miss the days of sitting in line for 4 hrs waiting to unload at bastrop! -
Louisiana Logger
signguy2108 replied to Swamp Dog's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Yea, thats a la logger, use to haul wood chips to bastrop & mansfield. Now people are going to new petes and 4 bunk trailers around here. Oh, Oh, almost forgot Bogaloosa, 11 hr round trip from monticello, our dispatcher told us we could make 2 loads a day. Go figure! -

Cool cars your grandparents owned
signguy2108 replied to Fat Brian's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My grandfather had a '57 caddilac 2 dr convertible, lime green, white interior and top.Bought it brand new and kept it in a garage. I was about 10 years old then and he told me that when he died, I could have it. My mom thought otherwise! She said a car like that could only get you in trouble. Somewhere along the line, he sold it and I never seen it again. My other grandfather had a 62 dodge dart, only knew one speed, wide open down a gravel road! those were the days!!!
