  1. To get this tread back on topic. AMT for the 68 is a decent start and can be made to look pretty reasonable without a boatload of work . The Johan 69 isn't terrible to find.,,,and if your patient can be had in the $35-$45 range for a really nice builder ( maybe less if you get lucky) Expect to pay in the $50 - $75 range for an unbuilt kit depending on the color its molded in . ( white demands a few more bucks than the molded in color versions ). But just as an fyi, ALL the 69 re-issues have the 1970 Interior in them if that matters to you. Johan made the 70 and it has never been re-issued. Expect to pay in the $100 to $125 range for a decent complete builder and upwards of $250-350 ( maybe more ) for unbuilt. I got REALLY luck on mine , found it on ebay in some weird listing for under $50 about 5 or 6 years ago
  2. Ive got a couple of them . Not including the one in my builder kit. I am really thinking of trying my hand at resin casting. And I think this grill might be something I would like to try and get my feet wet with,, so to speak .
  3. Ron, If you have the Johan bird, You have everything you need EXCEPT, stock roadrunner hood, under hood air box , stock grille and front bumper. I'll ck but I might have a spare front bumper and MAYBE a grille . If I do, just say the word and they are yours . I'll need a couple days to get to modeling area and dig that one out to ck for spare parts What ever I don't have as spare ,,,,, I'll gladly loan you mine if you want to copy it in resin . IF you have that capability in house
  4. Harts Parts Grille. Sorry, it doesnt look anything like a Johan GTX grill
  5. Great way to rip any potential client base and tooting your own horn in the same post. Great, you can now consider it tooted and go away . Shame, I was considering buying a resin 59 Imperial,,,,, and I for one avoid resin if at all possible. Thanks for saving me my money.
  6. agreed with all the above. The johan 70 roadrunner will put a serious dent in the piggy bank. So will a 69 GTX if you decide on them as well.
  7. I'm hopefull it's due to back dating it to 71-72 specs. Just my opinion but I think it would sell better.
  8. It's actually a I believe Detroit city vehicle color. In 69 is when it was labeled Omaha orange thru Mopar A at least best in can remender that Friend of mine used to own a really low mileage example. Several years ago
  9. my 2 cents. Me personally I like free. And to some degree for the forum to survive it must stay free, at least in some form BUT, I would have no problem with an annual subscription for paying subscriber / forum member benefits as mentioned earlier. That amount would have to be offset by the benefits gained on my end . Just for the sake of argument and to put a number on it . Lets say an annual paper subscription is $20 per year and a members only area here is $10 per year. I would GLADLY pay the $10. When it comes to paper magazines of any kind. I just browse thru it at the book store , if there's something I like and want to read at my leisure I'll buy the mag . If not it stays on the rack and I forget about it . Next month IF Im even at said bookstore / magazine rack. I'll peruse thru them again, the process repeats IF / WHEN when I get the chance . Its not a place I make a point to go to on any kind of regular basis
  10. I vote push the altered wheelbase 65 Plymouth to the front of the line But I thought there is or was supposed to be a Drag version of the Comet in the planning for this kit ? I'd like to see one of these myself
  11. Im pretty sure all the AMT repop issues have always had the C Stripe decals The original issue is the only one that had the pitchfork hood.
  12. There was in fact a stock issue annual kit back then ( ive got one buried away I think ) The Scat City issue was basically a promo body over one of the then issue funny car chassis's . Problem was, there was never a 1970 Coronet promo of any kind
  13. What about these . I know the lower left set is early barracuda
  14. Anyone able to tell me what years these are
  15. I'll be in touch real soon . I have a boat load of stuff I need to have replated
  16. 14" wheels were in fact avail on 1970 Hemi powered B bodies ( I edited to add the year ) Hemi car wheels are 1966-67 are 7.75- 14 , blue lines in 1966 and redlines in 1967 F70-15 is the only tire option in 1968 and 1969 on a Hemi car , avail in either a white or red pin stripe F70-14 is standard on 1970 avail as a white pinstripe or raised white letters , F60-15 is optional on 1970 avail as a raised white letters only G60-15 is the only tire avail on 1971 hemi powered B bodies.
  17. I used to think this way. BUT,,,,,, I got lucky last year and while looking for a clean builder 59 and 60 Edsel convertible kits. I ended up with 2 near mint in box unbuilt examples. The 58 had a cracked upper windshield frame header...no pieces missing just a hair line crack The 60 is missing the custom wheel covers. Bought them both for under $100,,,, or about what a nice builtup sells for. The 59 I built last year. The 60 is on the to do list. Maybe ????? ,,,later this year . For the same costs as a decent builder....i get to start with virgin plastic and mint chrome.
  18. Thanks Ron, Sorry to report but this one will probably be a few years before I even think about bring it to the work bench . To be honest I didn't know I even wanted one till I saw it sitting on the table yesterday. Thats when I decided I had to have it. Although I would actually prefer a 64 Fury convertible. (Guess you can imagine one of those in now on my want list,,,,dang it ) The seller also had a pretty nice builder original Revell 1961 ( maybe it was a 62 ) New Yorker conv as well. And I nearly pulled the trigger on to. But I was there to thin the stash not keep adding to it . So I decided on just this one. Love that red Fury ,,,,,If you cant muster up the inclination to finish that bad boy . Send it my way , I'll take care of it for you
  19. Went to the Cincinnati Challenge swap meet today . Picked up some decals , a few parts I didn't know I needed but couldn't leave without them . Best of all is ,,,,, I picked up a really decent original issue 1964 Dodge Polara convertible. Built but nothing ever painted and no funky custom stuff glued on. Only downfall is the fender well headers were added ,,,,but thats an easy fix with the parts stash . I'll just have to look for the stock wheel covers and the top boot . This one will be a ways down the list so there's no rush to find them .
  20. I'll be there with my daughter . Ive got 2 swap meet tables
  21. I will not buy a so called glue bomb unless its something stupid expensive and rare as a mint kit . Even then I prefer to find something not all glued up and near impossible to get apart without an act of congress Odd part ,,,,,Ive seen so called glue bombs sell for more than a mint unbuilt kit. I guess its all about the saving it ????? Just a few months ago I stumble on to a built AMT 1968 Roadrunner. The car looked like it got dipped in vinyl the paint was so thick. Glue marks on the glass . front wheels looked like they were glued on by a 2 year old they had so much camber Just an ugly build. Sold for almost $20. not including postage . Ive got mint sealed kits of that exact car I cant get $20 ea for Sorry, I dont get it
  22. I like it. This car exists today. Last I heard it was in central Indiana
  23. Define 'glue bomb' My definition is a heavily glued nearly impossible to get apart model. Those I actually try to avoid......unless it's near impossible to find example . Old annuals builtups I actually search for those.
  24. Ill buy a few of tthem
  25. Now that you mention it. All but 2 builds I've done the past year have been FoCoMo products. So maybe a closet ford guy.
