1962 Chrysler 300 Convertible. 1/1, Basically Done!
gtx6970 replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Edit, never mind . A quick google search yielded they were standard in 60-61, but were made optional in 62 as a short ram version http://www.chrysler300club.com/letterhistory/History.htm -
1962 Chrysler 300 Convertible. 1/1, Basically Done!

Looking good bro. But have to ask, are you sure the log rams were avail in 62 ? I thought they were 60 - 61 only. I think in 62 they went to the inline 2 fours. ( But I'll be honest Im a long way from an authority on early sixties 300s ) -
To ROLL or not ?
gtx6970 replied to D. Battista's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Even my old metal axle annuals I add some white glue to the insides of the chassis to keep them from rolling as best I can. About the most I want is to allow just enough movement so all 4 tires to sit on the table. -
ckd my builtup....it has a hemi in it. Just no idea if original or not (i bought it bilt )

Resin Alternatives for Small Molds
gtx6970 replied to Snake45's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Same here. Think I want to get into making small pieces , ( mirrors, door handles , emblems , arm rest pads etc ) This is just a thought. But I've repaired 1/1 plastic grilles by taking a baby food jar fill it about half way with scrap pieces of another grille and pour in acetone. Put the lid on and let it sit maybe 24 hours or so . It melts the plastic into this glue like substance and works perfectly for 1/1 grilles. And I keep thinking about trying it with stryene -
Interior upholstery pattern decals
gtx6970 replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Agreed 1000%. Ive built 2 Thunderbolts and have decals for maybe 4 or 5 more. Something to replicate the back seat would be REALLLLLY nice to have . Someone was doing the white stripe for the door panels at one time ( never bought any though ) -
Interior upholstery pattern decals
gtx6970 replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Basically anything to replicate from late 50s to late sixties cloth seat inserts. PS, I ordered about 4 or 5 different ones from Scale Motorsports last nite. -

gtx6970 replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks all. This is a project that's been in the back of my mind since I first saw the 1/1 on the frame table at C Cook Enterprises in Erlanger Ky Now that I've seen it completed, Its getting stronger and stronger to replicate ( at least to 'some' degree ) Spent a little time this am looking at kits and wheels -
1937 Ford Woodie - aka Carbon14
gtx6970 replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks My only concern would be the area of the 41 body where the downward slope of the rear fender would need modified. Im not afraid of some scratch building...but a whole hand built rear body is beyond my desires. Im afraid if it becomes to much work. Ill never finish it. Ive known this car since it was just a basic body and chassis. But when i saw the original design concept drawing....i knew it was going to be something cool. And im not typically a street rod kind of builder. -
Looking for some ideas / sources for the pieces to replicate this car. I use to work for the shop that built this and Ive seen it since the beginning . Thinking it would be REALLY cool in 1/25th scale. So I'm looking for ideas / sources for the basics , A woody body . or at least the kits to cut up and make it if need be . Wheels and tires any ideas?

Anyone have a picture of the contents of the Revell Foose 1967 Coronet kit....specifically the tires and wheels

Retirement cant get here fast enough. Wife and I plan to move west , far west the summer of 2018 . Wife wants to be closer to her sister in Sahuarita AZ . I want out of the cold weather Plan is sell or rent the house here in KY and move away from the cold and snow. I've had enough and need a change. ( never was a fan of cold weather anyway ,,even when I was a kid ) My view someday very VERY soon. The Sierra Vista mountain range to the south and the sunset to the west and just listening to the Coyotes howl at nite. Plan is to build a shop , work on old cars, build some models from time to time and maybe even get into some woodworking / house remodeling with my Brother in Law.

Very nice. Not that i expected anything less. I picked up a decent mpc 70 challnger for the sole purpose to build this car

What's the best Coronet kits available

The only Dodge to ever wear Sox and Martin colors was the mid 90s Dakota and the mid 70s Hemi Colt -
What's the best Coronet kits available
gtx6970 replied to WoodyRDC's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Depends on what year ( and scale if it matters ) your after. AMT made a 1965 Coronet kit ,,way back then . Polar Lights ( I've shown here ) makes a decent 1965 Coronet today, its not perfect but can be made to look presentable for a lot less than the original AMT kit is going to cost you in todays market . All the 1967 Coronet kits are the same ,,just different wheels , decals and box art. Monogram made a 1969 Superbee ,,but its 1.24th scale MPC used to make the 1968 thru 1970 Coronet kits back in there respective year ...... The same 1970 Body is avail today ,,,just with the modern tooled AMT chassis and running gear. There never was a 1971 or later Coronet kit produced -
Just keep your eyes peeled . Take a body from the LA Dart and the body from the Ramchargers dart and make your own Neither one are to hateful to find I did

It's time to say goodbye to Florida - End of story 3/19

WOW,, to pick up cold feet and move to an area with no family near by would be tough. But I commend you on it. We plan to make a move to southern AZ in under the next 2 years tops ( daughter graduates summer of 2018 ) So I kind of understand,,,but its to get away from the cold weather is our driving force. Wish you luck -
I was thinking about you this morning and ventured down to this section of the board . Keep your chin up and putting one foot in front of the other.

Really depends on actual condition. If its absolutely dead mint perfect it MIGHT bring $400 to the right person . If that's the actual kit in question its not flawless, ( shows box wear ) And will not bring that. Based on that,,, if its sealed inside with no signs of issues $350-375 tops . Open inside $300 - 325 MAYBE $350 to the right person but I doubt it ,,,all this is based if its perfect inside with inspection ANY issues inside what so ever, such as - damaged or missing decals, broken windshield frame ( common issue btw ) missing parts and its well below $300 . These are tough to find,,,but not near as hard to come up with as the 68 Coronet hardtop is. If it matters a nice builtup can be had for the $75 to $100 range without to much difficulty,,you just have to be patient to find a really nice one that isnt all modified or cut on. I just picked up a really nice very builtup for about $85 a few months ago off ebay There is one on ebay right now I am keeping an eye one that has a BIN of $265 ( missing the hood ) At that price if everything else is perfect its not to hate full ( hoods can be found without a ton of effort but plan to spend in the $20 range to find one ) So you would be all in the car for about $300 . I have an extra hood already http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-ORIGINAL-MPC-1-25-SCALE-1968-DODGE-CORONET-CONVERTIBLE-/122273987129?hash=item1c7818fa39:g:NlgAAOSw-0xYPIsN
