Screws for the old screw bottm cars
gtx6970 replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Well, I got outbid on those....So I will look at other options. Steve, as far as removing them . MOST of the stuff I have in mind are kits where the hood doesn't open anyway. Remember I kind of loose interest after about 1962 or 63 . So its mostly late 50s and early 60s annuals builtups that I need the screws for anyway . Its not like I need a hundred of them ,,,,,,just maybe a dozen or 2 tops If I have anything later 60s,,,,,Its a Mopar B body and I plan to use the AMT chassis under them anyway so on them ,,,, they're not a problem. -

Automotive Production Numbers?
gtx6970 replied to JollySipper's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I cant speak for any other makes . But as far as Mopars are concerned . I don't think good enough records were kept to narrow it down to far. The best out there I know of gives us total production numbers for a a particular body style and in some cases drive trains, but as far as a particular color with a certain drive train numbers is impossible to know with 100% accuracy -
Screws for the old screw bottm cars
gtx6970 replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'll have to look into this idea. Ive been fairly lucky in this regard as I only have a couple of cars with damaged posts but they're not easy kits to replace ( Johan 1959 Fury is one ) and this sounds like a viable repair. But for the most part I just need to replace missing screws ,,thus my original post. -
What kits have a dana rearend?
gtx6970 replied to Michael in Illinois's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers

Bought these old boats last week. Ive been thinking I want something to display behind a few of my old annuals. And I can picture a nice old boat being pulled with a big 1960 Bonneville or 1959 Imperial for sure. I'll probably just clean them up a bit , touch up a few spots and fix some loose pieces ,,,then in the case they go . I even like the box art to display in my family room. Anyone happen to know about what year these were produced ?

Steve I saw on the mcmaster carr site there is nail looking pin with looks like splines that would work for that . sort of like the pin in the later reissue series Johan promos of the 80s I have enough for my upcoming builds...but sooner or later i will need something. As i have a couple cars with nothing. Maybe ill win these and wont have to worry about ths later down the road. These would be more than enough for my needs...now and later. IF i wn . -

If i remember right they are a dark grey -
Anyone know what the proper term is for them . They are kind of a weird thread . I have several of these cars missing them and was looking around McMaster Carrs site to see if I can find a reasonable replacement

gtx6970 replied to ConventionalMan's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Gonna look good in black with blue int. I built one of these a little while back. Other than masking up the tri tone interior its a pretty straight forward kit to build. I don't remember any fit issues -
Time to bring this one back to the front of the table. In a perfect world it'll be done by Christmas . I may give it to a friend of mine as a replica of his former car. Petty Blue , white interior , 440 six barrel , console auto. The actual car. It now belongs to Tim Welborn in Alabama

WOW, I would be so happy with how those lines turned out ,,,I would be beside myself and all giddy if mine looked that good. Im seriously toying with the idea of coming out to AZ for the show next spring. ( I have family in Tuscon AZ ) -
you funny guy. I've made the mistake of selling builds I've done in the past, that's not going to happen again while I'm still breathing.

Thanks all for the kind words. I really do appreciate it. Its probably one of my all time favorites. It just came out exactly like what i had in mind in the very beginning . I sent pictures of the car to the shop that owns the actual 1/1 its based off of and they want me to write some kind of article about it to showcase to there customers. I got a reply back this afternoon and it made my day.

I wish I could take all the credit for this one. But a few weeks back I picked up this builtup . It was already painted an assembled. I dis-assembled it , redid the interior in the correct red for this application. Masked off the seats and fogged some over spray black, silver, white and gold to give it a cloth insert look to it . I did all the bare metal foil trim and emblems ( it was all brushed painted silver that did nothing for the car ) Then cleaned and polished it up the best I could. Then put it back together,,, doing some minor touchups along the way . Its one I've been wanting to do ,,just never did for one reason or another. For all of a $10 purchase it looks pretty darn good .

Yesterdays dashboards
gtx6970 replied to BIGTRUCK's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Have and accident and the passenger side airbag keeps you or your loved ones head out of the windshield or that crumple zoned hood keeps it from coming back thru the windshield like a saw blade and see if you still think this way. -
Modelhaus and R+R both ,,USED to . Only source I know of now is find one someone doesn't want or need. To be honest your best bet is probably going to be ebay . There are several people on there that part kits out. and both coronets pop up from time to time. Ps, I do have an R+R Resin 1968 Coronet RT hardtop kit I might cut loose of . Its complete except the 2 front seats. But I'll be honest its not going to be dirt cheap
