  1. Ok, For me that I have personally built/rebuilt is probably a toss up between my 59 Edsel - 60 Continental I know the Lincoln and Edsel are not the hardest to find, but they don't exactly grown on trees either,,I have rarer to find kits,,,just not that I've personally built.
  2. My rarest kit isnt even in my short list yet (johan 59 Fury) The ' i have to be the builder ' quote......hmmmmmm .i am gonna have to think about this a bit
  3. Agreed, The Lindberg 64 Dodge is probably the one Ive built the most ( have 4 completed so far,,none as the Ramchargers car ) ps, this is how the Iron Butterfly looks today
  4. Been dealing with a lack luster interest to work on this one. But I did muster up a idea to upgrade the old Johan interior tubs. Simply added strip stryene for the chrome door panel dividers moldings. Found some door panels out of the AMT 68 Roadrunner kit. So I cut the arm rests out of them and added them to the Johan interior and some small stryene strips to replicate window cranks ,,,,, It looks SO much better. Added embossing powder for carpet and painted the seats simple duplicolor white primer.
  5. I've got a few of them . But Sure would like to have a few more . I would love to have a few 57 thru 59 cars Big question is,,,,where did the tooling of these go ?
  6. Thats sending them all , already stripped correct ? Ive already made the rack so thats moot point. And Yes, all mold lines have been removed. . If it wast for that a good portion of these wouldn't need replated What started this process is I want to get moving on a 59 Galaxie sunliner build and the chrome for it was toast
  7. Driven by Wally Booth early on, then later by Dick Oldfield
  8. I try to build my old super stockers accurate, within reason. It comes down to try and replicate a car at a particular time. Don't hold me to this but I don't think a 10" rear tire was even avail in 64 was it ? I think the biggest back then was an 8" or MAYBE a 9" rear tire. ???????? A good example when you can use the Lindberg supplied tires is something like this one. Its a 64 Dodge Iron Butterfly SS . Its a true SS car, but wasn't campaigned till late 60s time frame
  9. Steve, You peaked my interest. what kind of cost difference we talking ? . Little Motor Car co. can plate the rack as shown for $26 , plus return postage with about a 2 week turnaround time. pm me if you prefer
  10. IMO, The hood in the yellow bodied charger 500 kit . Needs a little work to soften the edges in the depressions just a touch. But other wise its right for a typical 69 Charger As to the contents to any other issues of either kit. I have no idea . I have several of each the above and never bought any subsequent versions.
  11. Steve, Mine is 6" top to bottom. and it was 8" lengthwise, till I folded down nearly a 1/2" on each end to give it legs so to speak
  12. thanks ...but this is just the tip of the iceberg. I doubt this even a 1/4 of what I have stockpiled the past 2 or 3 years . Luckily several don't need the chrome redone I figure there's maybe a year ( ok,,,probably 2 maybe even 3 years ) worth of work right there alone.
  13. Ok, Next question Is this ok as far as crowding on a Rack. Looking to have some pieces plated and I would like to get as much done as I can in one trip as I can. is this too crowded , ? Can I put a runner down the middle for maybe 5 or 6 small parts ? ( tail light bezels for a 58 Ford being the biggest piece) Probably going to send them to Little Motor Car Co. the 1st of the week ( once I get everything stripped )
  14. Finishing one is always my goal,,,but seems like I start more then I actually get finished sometimes. But ,,,I'M ok with it. Its a hobby not a career.
  15. Thanks fellas. I had a feeling my options were going to be extremely limited. When I did my 58 Bonneville I had ordered modelhaus promo wheels for it ( and darn glad I did ) It looks sooooo much better that way . Just not sure I want to buy a complete 58 Edsel kit just to part it out for the wheels. gonna have to think about that one. Is the kit still avail new ? If so,,,,,I might be able to get the kit at hobby lobby with a 40% off coupon ???? but that still puts it kind of rich as a parts kit The Buick I had a feeling was going to be a bear. I was hoping , maybe just maybe something would have been avail as a custom wheel in some other kit ( 62 Chrysler 300 wheel covers in the 58 Impala kit as an example ( thanks for that tidbit btw ) )
  16. Anyone have any suggestions or sources for stock wheels for a 1958 Buick wnd 58 Edsel . These kits have some generic wheel thats ugly
  17. I just opened my factory sealed Daytona kit ( box art shown above) for the 1st time maybe a day or 2 ago. As a member needed a 500 Grille and it has the EXACT same chrome tree in it that my 500 kit has ( again ,,,,box art shown above ) with the Charger 500 grill on it . As for whats in any other issues of the kits,,, I cant speak for . As I don't have any other issues on hand ( as I have several copies of the one above ) Like I said, the hood I haven't ck'd but My green Daytona was built using the kit with the red box art I posted above. EDIT, I just ckd the hoods are in fact different between these 2 kits. I have 2 of the Daytona kits above, both identical contents,,,. both molded in white. My charger 500 is molded in yellow ( yuck ) I didn't go any further to see if any other kit differences . I will be using one of the Daytona kits to build a 500, as I want to build it as a white exterior with red interior car.
  18. I did this one probably 20 years ago. At the time its all there was unless you wanted to drop serious coin on an original MPC NASCAR kit. To this day I like the door scallops on this body compared to the revell version, I think they better represent the actual car.
  19. I can only speak for these 2 as they are exactly what I have. And they have the exact same chrome tree in them . As for the hood, no idea havent ckd
  20. Good link for the Texas Rattler . Ive seen the car in person and I can assure you the car is as close to correct as they come I'd forgot about Darrell Davis and Greg Lanes info. Anything and everything you need to know about the Max Wedge or Race Hemi can be found right here http://racehemi.maxwedge.com/ Ps, this is the 1st I've ever heard them called ' Petty Headers ' or Nascar Only Headers. To my knowledge they were standard issue on every factory produced 1964 and 1965 Race Hemi car. Be it an oval track packaged or Drag Race packaged car
  21. Mail man dropped off these 2. AMT 1964 Buick conv and a 65 Buick hardtop . I Wasn't really looking for them per say. But Ebay suggested I take a look based off my buying habits. ( not sure how I feel about that right now ) So I figured ohh what the heck. I don't normally look for hardtops ,,,but my parents used to have a 65 Buick hardtop and I learned to drive in it, So i made a last minute bid and won them both
  22. Quality is top shelf though. I'll give you that. Only reason I got all mine done is I work from home in the winter. so I tend to take a few days off here and there and work on models . (eases the mind ) Ive got 3 bodies sitting here painted, and my Superbird build is stalled due to lack of enthusiasm . Been tinkering with an AMT 59 Galaxie convertible annual instead. So chances are it'll proceed the fastest .
  23. Yes. Thus the nickname....'Candymatic' and it had red interior The Dodge Boys car was a 4spd also red interior this applies to the 64 dodge sedans
