  1. I tried Bi-focals once,,hated them and i'm not going back there . I do wear glasses mainly to drive and such,,but usually take them off when doing closeup work or reading or at the model bench . . But lately even reading fine print on paint cans is getting tough Going out this afternnoon and may stop by hobby lobby and/or Micheals to see whats avail
  2. Maybe its just because I am getting older. But I've finally come to the conclusion I need one of them fancy lighted maginifier thingys . Attempting to do some bare metal foil work this morning and I am having a hard time seeing it close up enough to get good clean edge. So , I am looking for ideas . Which one do you have ,,,and why is it better than the rest . I am thinking the one that you wear like a ball cap ( for mobility issues ) . Or is the desk mounted variety better ?
  3. I use the MAD Prewired dists exclusively. For $5......Avail in choices of wire and cap color. They simply can't be beat .
  4. I thought it was the real thing when I looked at it . I can only imagine the time it takes to build something like this
  5. I like them all. From OE factory stock to full on modern / updated drivers. 'IF' ,,,,, I build another car . It will be all old on the outside and all modern underneath. Including a modern A/C system At my age I no longer feel the need to have nothing but lots of horsepower and yet little to no brakes to stop it with .
  6. I've used both Duplicolor and Upol clears over Duplicolor base coats and no issues with either one.
  7. WOW,,,,,,, VERY nice. And the older I get the more I appreciate the earlier cars , Well done , And from 1979,, Even I dont have any unbuilt stuff that old ......
  8. Headrests were an option. Till Jan 1st 1969 when they became standard because of a federal law
  9. Ok, Interior is done. White is duplicolor white laquer that dried in a nice very low gloss. Floor is done ( although you cant tell in the pics ) is covered in black embossing powder . I tried my best to highlight the dash buttons and gauges. and they look,,,,,,,ok . Flowed in a dab of thinned flat black on the rear console chrome plate to replicate the 1/1 Chassis about done. Then it on to BMF on the body and start assembling the pieces . Hope to finish it by the weekend .
  10. I have a bunch of the AMT 1962 Impalas and if those are the wheels you need . pm me an address and they're yours
  11. Just to bring this one back up. Anyone know a good paint match for this ? I want the so called ' blueish white ' I have been wanting to build one of these but the color has me stalled I was thinking paint it a pearl white with just a touch of blue mixed in the clear ?
  12. an hour or so in a super clean bath works wonders. then just rinse with warm water . I made the mistake of trying to primer / paint a resin body before cleaning and it fisheyed so bad it was horrible
  13. Looks pretty good. Is this kit even still avail ? I built one for my sister in law years ago ( like maybe 20 ? ) And yes it was a very nice kit
  14. Ya gotta have faith bro,,, If anyonce can make this one shine its you. I have faith in ya . The lack of interior detail and those huge floor plugs are why I stopped on my Bonneville. I am undecided if I add aftermkt parts or not . So thought best to put it down and work on something else for a while
  15. If I had seen it first ,,,, I may have bought it http://www.ebay.com/itm/Futurliner-test-shot-resin-casting-starter-kit-1-24-Motorama-Concept-Bus-/281505732656?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item418b0c9830&nma=true&si=FwP94Wl5ldxHZPcFHYoNKJawz34%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&fol=185330b07c417bdad1f1df4c397c6d0ce7f5ec59a661575eab577ef4967a849d&pwid=modelerrob
  16. Ok. You guys sold me. Now I want one
  17. Not today ,,,but have bought in the past few weeks actually. All builtups 1959 Buick , 1960 Imperial and a 1960 Bonneville
  18. I've used the upol rattle cans on a couple builds. I like it a lot
  19. Wow, some stunners there . You dont need that Buick though. I think you need to pack it up ( carefully ) and send it to me so I can dispose of it properly for ya. But I do the same basic process, thinned flat black and wipe off the top coat
  20. Isnt the Gunze kit a 1/32nd scale kit ? Here is a I think a revell kit built,,,and it looks off to me in a big way http://www.ebay.com/itm/1957-CADILLAC-CUSTOM-CONVERTIBLE-BUILT-MODEL-CAR-BOX-DISPLAY-OR-JUNKYARD-PARTS-/251830562346?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3aa2456e2a
  21. thanks fellas, I will try this out for sure. I tried a fine gold marker and just barely touching the emblems is not good enough . I'll try the BMF and the gold top coat next I will be getting back to this one later this or first of next week . Need to get some alclad to try my hand on the bumpers . They had a pretty noticable mold line on the ends I couldnt live with. So I stripped them down and smothed out the flaws . Once I have them in alclad ,,,,If I am not happy with it,,i'll box them up and send them out to be re-chromed
  22. Looks amazing. I like your taste in modeling subjects. I keep thinking I need one of the 1.25th scale versions
  23. Looks killer. I just got one of these last week. And your right,,looking at it I am not looking forward to the foil process
  24. Joe, Not sure any of the Darts have ever surfaced. But the body for the Charlie Allen Challenger was on Ebay this past summer . Just the body,,, and it didnt get stupid expensive. If it had been cost effect to get it across country I may have considered buying it just for giggles Restoring an old drag car would be extremely expensive,,,I am sure tracking down period correct parts would get very time consuming. thanks all for the kind words
