@-1970-1971 Plymouth RTS Road Show
gtx6970 replied to 1972coronet's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
To the best of my knowledge he does NOT own the RTS Cuda I've thought about attempting all of the cars in 1/25th scale but the 71 Roadrunner and 70 Duster might be a tad bit beyond my skills and/or concentration level I don't think the 70 Roadrunner would be all that hard to do , the grille is avail in the original Johan release ( i have a couple of the grilles but only the one builtup of the car and I already have plans for it )- 7 replies

Same here. I have been on a pre-war cars kick lately. and I just might have to add this one to the stack. I just picked up an Heller kit of an early 30's Alfa Romeo Zagato and it is extremly close to the ft of the line. I plan to start it late this summer or early fall at the latest ( maybe sooner if I can clear the bench ) ps, does this kit have whitewall tires or all black ?

Just curious,is it going to have decals to do both the red and the white versions on Grumpy's car ?

mom and pop vs. big hobby shop
gtx6970 replied to Q tip's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I haven't bought much lately that is a current kit. So most of my purchases in the past 12-18 months is online ( 90% of which has been Ebay ) I do have a Micheals and a Hobby Lobby close by but neither carry much modeling wise., kits or supplies Otherwise I only have one actual hobby shop , but he is more into RC stuff . We've talked and he is willing to listen and add in model kits , he just doesn't want to have thousands of dollars invested in slow moving store stock -
One of my favorites thats been posted here . Actually , This build is the one that inspired me to build my Beswick car. And my interior didn't come nearly as nice as this.

Just a nasty cold wet dreary weekend . It was decent saturday, but yesterday and today highs in the low 60's , a breezey and rainy past couple of days ==== just plain blah

Out of the archives -1967 Color Me Gone Charger
gtx6970 replied to gtx6970's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I did manage to tinker with it a bit last week . I finally added , and long overdue crank dampner, fuel pump and lines and a tank. I am almost positive the tank is 100% wrong but it was all I had in the parts box. It's done and back in the case till I decide to finally take it apart to make it a bit more correct. ( someday) -

Back when I bought it ( over 10 , probably closer to 15 years ago ) all I got was the loosely assembled chassis , what was left of the int tins, body and rear bumper. I used the glass and ft grille/bumper from the old mpc 67 charger kit ( the one molded in black ) I didn't get any paint, box or instructions You would probably hate me if I said how much I paid for it back then ( it was WAAAAAAAY less then $150 ) -
White tires/Black tires

The great one died 19 yrs ago today.
gtx6970 replied to 935k3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My comment had nothing to do with what or how much either drove. Both acheived a level that very few ever attain in there careers. Dale Earnhardt was not 'the person' Aarton Senna was prior to his death and never will be. -
Great looking build. I did one of these a few months back. and it instantly became one of my favorite kits / cars . Isn't painting the 3 tone interior fun ? You did well grasshopper, take a bow.

MPC resin body building a Barry Setzer Vega
gtx6970 replied to ratnasty's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I agree,,,, The MPC body is by far the most accurate, I have several old builtups for future projects. It's a shame most of the aftermkt decal suppliers scale there sheets to the revell body. I already have a couple of Chucks sheets for future projects. -

A picture of the interior tin itself work ?,,,, I don't have a engine cover at all. Only thing I have are the later versions and such as the 1968 Color Me Gone tin shown on the top in this picture -

I did some tinkering with it last night and added a fuel tank and pump , and ran some fuel lines , it looked kind of nakid without it. I thought about taking it apart to spray the chassis black like the 1/1, but decided to just leave it as is till I no longer have any projects to do ( that'll be a while ) It's basically just open windows office and using return address labels ( pick your size using test prints) and print them out on Avery clear address labels . Are they perfect? absolutely not. but at the time it was all I could do to replicate this car. The name on the ft fender and the dealership lettering on the quarter panel was done this way well over 10 years ago. Name on the door and the smaller sponser decals are fred cady i think. The body was cleared with testors enamel so the white is beginning to show signs of yellowing My plan in the near future is to redo the body and use modern decals . There is no clear over the decals . I am actually missing the engine cover portion of the interior tin in case anyone has an extra they want to part with -
Not sure if I should post this or not. I happend to stumble onto this a few days ago , then I seen this thread last last night( I don't get to this section that much ) But it might be of interest before another manufactuer gets to invested Not mine nor do I know the seller - just passing along info http://www.ebay.com/itm/Resin-Pro-Charger-Supercharger-with-pulley-and-belt-kit-Street-or-Drag-/181133765080?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item2a2c69e9d8

Anyone got any body up pics.? All I can find are the 68 CMG Charger shots The blue tube I have on it I think was just a ballast weight and I want to see if or how a fuel tank was mounted I decided to go ahead and add some details to the ft of the engine ( LONG overdue ) while it's out of the case for a dusting -
Here is one you don't see much. Original issue MPC kit I bought this many years ago as an old builtup from a friend of mine. All I did was strip and repaint the body, made some of the side lettering using an ink jet printer and clear address labels ( decals to redo it weren't avail back then ) and put it in the case and called it done. The chassis was unpainted, so I left it that way, nothing added but plug wires to give it some bling looking thru the window openings . To this day this is one of my favorite kits and cars.

Looks good. I did one a few years ago. always bother me it has complete engines in it, yet the hood is molded shut . I don't remember having any decal issues back when I did mine. Are they kit decals ?
