gtx6970 replied to mrknowetall's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Lookin good,,,, I've got several of the old metal axle kits myself. -
10 years is not a stretch for me. I have several that are at least that old. But thats changing. Actually, I just finished one that was started about 12 years . I have maybe 3 or 4 more I want done this year and they are all started over 10 years back. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=75209 Few more are ( both started well over ten years ago ) MPC Barracuda with a modified Revell Dart chassis under it . Initially it was going to be a Sox and Martin or the Mule Cuda build Then a Mr Norms 73 Charger AA/FC

What's the deal with Johan
gtx6970 replied to Kaleb's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Plus ad in Johan bodies are the ones by which most others are measured against. For an example take an AMT 1969 GTX - compare it to a Johan 1969 GTX, there is no comparison. Johan wins hands down IMO -
PCV location depends on year. 1968- 1969 Big blocks are on the pass side and towards the rear of the engine

Looks like dealer promotionals worth decent money if you want to flip them , how much $ depends on condition -
Many US EBay Sellers Will Opt In For International Shipping Soon
gtx6970 replied to Johnny K's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Most buyers think it should be. Then add on Ebay and Paypal's constantly rising fees involved . Then the positive feedback only that a seller can leave has turned me against ebay as a seller in a big way. Ebay is all for protecting the buyer only and wants nothing from the seller 'except his sellers fees ' and has been for some time. What I found amusing was shortly after Ebay's purchase of Paypal . All sellers were forced to offer / accept some form of online payment required was initiated . Oddly enough, they recomend Paypal Heard any stories from sellers latetly that an arbitration case was found in there favor ? -
Cool. And that was fast.

Thanks all. I really appreciate it . It started out as one of the Poloar Lights pearl white snap kits. I added the Hemi heads and crossram intake from the parts box ( I think it's Johan pieces) With the hood scoop i think is from the Lindberg 64 Dodge . Paint is a chrysler light gold from a Duplicolor rattle can with a rattle can urethane clear. Interior is dark primer base with a Tamaya Champange gold top coat , with silver and black accents . A MAD pre-wired dist and called it done

So glad this one is finally off the workbench . Waht started of to be a simple wekend build turned into a major pain in the @&%$ . Painted and stripped , twice. The 2 layer decals the registration was off ever so slightly, causing there own issues . Even now the body has crazing in the plastic under the paint that didn't show till it was decaled and cleared. At that point I just wanted it done and in the case so I could move on. Nothing special details wise but a MAD pre-wired dist I'll add some more pictures over the weekend.

Thats the one I have, I may go with some aftermkt tires instead of the plastic ones

ps , somthing along the lines of this . But I have no idea if they've picked a final color yet .

It's sort of stock looking as far as fenders , grille running boards would have been . Basically a sort of stock looking grille, ft fenders, grille , hood and cowl But all custom frame, driveline, Independent suspension ft and rear, with something along the lines using a Franklin center section with custom axles and outer hubs / brake setup, a 1 off custom stainless exhaust, 1 off custom wheels , etc etc I know the fender shapes will be ever so slightly different , just enough to know they were modified but only by someone who really knows the stock body countours . With custom inserts in the wood side panels. I think there were contemplating going old school induction . something along the lines of an Inglese induction/ EFI setup on a 5.0 Ford I think. But anything is subject to change as ideas and thought processes go forward . This car is probably at least a year out for a tentative completion date. I have a left over Revell 1930 Ford woody kit I may ck to see if I can modify it for the side paneling

Many thanks, Thats exactly what I was hoping to find. I was looking at the 1/1 car yesterday and the only thing I saw that was an obvious difference were the vents on the sides of the cowl near the ft edge of the door opening I want to get started on this one soon,, very soon.
-
Thanks fellas, I am going to be at this guys shop on monday and will try to snap off a few pictures in secret. (he's not to keen on public viewing til the car is complete ) I'm not sure of the wood part is chopped or not, if it is, it's not much

I wonder what the time frame difference is between these last 2 pictures. There are some subtle difference between the 2 cars. different decals , rocker trim color , different spark plug wiring, different blower . Just goes to show how rapidly the cars changed from race to race
