You've got my interest. I have been wondering where to get the decals I would really prefer a 1/25th scale kit if at all possibile to keep my display case looking all similar scale ,,,,,,but I do have one of the Boss 429 kits on the shelf as a just in case. something else I did not know is Al ran a Lawman corvette as well approx 1967 vintage

Figures, I just picked up the decals to do this car maybe 3 weeks ago

source for Mallory coils ?
gtx6970 replied to gtx6970's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Thanks, I order them this afternoon. I was after the square looking old style coils usually mounted on the ft engine plate on the old AA/FC cars such as here on the Chitown Hustler -

what are you work bench must-haves?
gtx6970 replied to wgflatliner's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Lighting has gotten to be a major requirement lately. A really sharp retractable X-acto knife I use the small bladed versions mostly ( looks like a retractable pen ) But the motivation is the hardest one for me to keep stocked -
The Price Is Right!

Both would be kind of fun for a long weekend, but I wouldn't want the upkeep of either over the long term -
Anyone know of any avail. ? stryene or resin will work need a couple for early 70's AA/FC builds

Using a Turbin car as an example may not be the best coice. Remember those cars were tooled and built in Italy , and my tells me they're not a Mopar color myself I am leaning more towards a candy red more and more.

Thanks fellas, I wasn't sure if anyone did one or not. Casey, I am going to need a fastback, Mach 1 preferred

German car builder for a 1st timer
gtx6970 replied to gtx6970's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks all, I was thinking Beetle because I think it's the most easily recognizable German automobile to even non car people. Now just need to find one and let her have at it, a pre-painted snap kit would probably be quickest ( she has multiple projects that need completed for this end of year assignment) Thanks again, Bill -
Is the Revell / Monogram 1/24th scale kit all there is ? I would like to have a 1/25th scale car for a future project

I like it, the color combo and the wheels works together very well .

My dad started with Southern Railway, which became Norfolk/Southern which became CSX ( at least thats the name changes progression I remember) He retired 9-10 years. Started out asa brakeman, worked his way up to Conductor then finally to Enginer. Listening to my Dad over the years , I would have to say it's a life style that wears on you. And it's a very thankless job. As a kid who grew up with it, I would have to say if you have kids,,,,, IMO avoid being on the road. It keeps you away from family way to much . It was rare my dad was home for holidays especially Christmas , if he was he usually just got home the morning of or went out during the day . Birthdays were the same. Especially in the early years. Later on it's wasn't so bad because he finally got on a regular gig . But by then me and my 4 brothers and 1 youngest sister were past childhood. Looking back I would have liked having my Dad there Christmas morning and my burthday ,,,,, every year . No idea what being a switch yard worker is like .

See what I mean, it all depends on the angles and the lighting as to what it looks like. But I keep coming back to Candy red over a gold base. This quandary has kept me from building this car for quite some time , even with the Cady decals I've had for well over 10 years. Sadly Al passed away a few years back and had I known he was going to be on the grounds when his 66-67 Charger was put in the Chrysler Museum a few years back,,,,, I would have been there to ask. I mean it's only about 5 hours each way.

Painted roof was an option in at least 1969 + 1970 , not sure of any other years I believe the factory code was VO2 they used the exact same seperation moulding as a vinyl top car would have used here is an example. And yes this one is all factory colors

1/25 Revell '70 Plymouth HEMI 'Cuda 2'n1
gtx6970 replied to MachinistMark's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
On the 1/1 the chrome bezel is almost same height, maybe even slightly below the surface of the black painted area On a model it would be even with the surface of the body . IMO, the only way to do it is either chrome the bezel and use a clear paint to do the tail lights and back up lamp lenses ( my preference) Or mold the lenses red and with a silver sharpie go over the edges of the bezel If someone wants to see any angles on a 1970 Cuda tail light I have a car in the shop I can take any angle wanted. ps, this is an original sheetmetal car as well, so I might measure body panels / lines -

Somehow they latch into receivers on the chassis ( my apologies for the slight hijak ) -

These are 2 pictures I took of the JJ Nova last year. 2 double sided hooks mounted to the forward bulkhead -
I'm not 100% sure of the dark color. In some pics I've seen it looks copper or bronze, others it looks like candy apple red. There is a 1/1 clone out and about a few years back at the US Nationals and it looked bronze. When I asked about the color, the guy I talked to didn't know much about the car other than it was a replica of the max wedge car

NEW! Modelhaus 57 Dodge D-501 sedan
gtx6970 replied to tomsheehy's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Not 100% sure but I think the rear half of the roof line and back glass are different between 2 door hardtop versus the 2 door sedan -
Revell, lets see a kit of this
gtx6970 replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'll give the builder credit, he was at least creative and was thinking outside the box,,,,,,,,,,,albeit WAY outside of the box -
Oh don't get me wrong It's good to have the Lindberg Mopars back no matter what variant. I'll buy a few,,,,, well just because. And I assume this will be a max wedge car ? Anyone know if the all of the secondary color is going to be via decals ( similar to the Color Me gone Dodge ) or just the side panel lettering ? I think R+R makes a sedan and like said I think it's for the johan chassis. but I think JF makes one for the LIndberg kit. But I was less than pleased with either, so I have already started a conversion to make my own 2 door sedan for the Lindberg kits.

gtx6970 replied to Mooneyzs's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Great pictures, right click save , just in case ps, the JJ 1969 Nova had a body latch system very similar to that and I think it was actually a double sided hook that latched onto a receiver on the chassis and not one of the chassis rails/tubes -

I was just curious , I had a feeling you had some kind of 1/1 references to go on . And body up / inside of the body can't be an easy picture to get unless you get to see the actual car in person . I saw the restored JJ 1969 Nova last year and I tried to get as many detail pictures as I could before my camera battery died on me, and I didn't get anywhere near enough to make me happy.
