  1. Until the Revell new version arrives there is no right or wrong answer . BUT, IMO there will always be a select few who want 'only' the original issue. IF , the new variant is as nice as it appears it will be,, I think it will hurt the original to some degree,,, the Johan less than the original MPC because of the whole Johan mystery/stigma. my personal opinion ( read want list) is the aftermkt will step up will kinds of goodies for the new revell car such as decals sheets ( hint hint)
  2. As far as dimensions all year 1970-1974 Cuda / Barracuda body shells are identical. difference's lie in the ornamentation. such as the grille , sidemarkers and tail lights. Tail light panel itself is the same ( outside of the tail lights themselves) such as recessed license plate , fuel filler etc etc rear valance is the same externally(there are mounting difference's but are not seen once installed ) Grille is obviously different - 1970 - one year only 1971 - one year only 1972-1974 are all the same ( same rule applies the plastic ft valance insert) sidemarkers are the same for 1970-1971 sidemarkers are the same 1972-1974 Outside of drivetrain - virtually nothing interchanges between Challenger and Barracuda - any year
  3. 40 mpg is nuttin My 1996 Contour will easily pull high 30's and will get 40-41 mpg if I nurse it in hi-way driving and it's a 1996
  4. I can see the aftermkt stepping up to do multiple decals sheets of vintage race cars for this kit ( hint hint ) I am thinking AT LEAST a dozen , and thats on top of the 2 builtup original MPC versions I have in the stash
  5. Really nice looking build. This is another one I have on my 'want to do list' ,,,,, someday
  6. Sweet, Got one of these to do in the near future. so the tips along the way are nice info
  7. 1961 Pontiac will be a plus. But the 1965 Comet is most definitly on my want list and has been for some time. And mention of a time frame for either ? is the 1970 Cuda still slated for this fall/winter or has it been pushed back to early 2014 ?
  8. Wouldn't mind see better pictures than this one https://57ccb717-a-62cb3a1a-s-sites.googlegroups.com/site/hartspartsresin/resin-parts-list/conversions/68%20hemi%20dat%20int.JPG?attachauth=ANoY7cpqcpKqesRCAAp9wdf8edjIXR_ECF9O8OHHvSCpsTvuk1ghR7UKPj7vHx3Jeaxv9tRdl_X4wZ7Hcq194wixoAiTIVAlAAm90I_Zhf7NrQm6vbw6CqhujDR84sUGZV0D2e0T7mAQ7iU4V9yv8SNMVQ0eaf5DCDyI237_GoVdxecaQQ8zv8klHjIV5AncgJMPe1m3RRRJhIwbbv_VJkhT_RbZqd0LSux_BcBWqs8EfO5QuxLYqty7gXy_RCMRSSm3L4xPwQmd9N4IUHmONia8QDV6baExFw%3D%3D&attredirects=0
  9. Ok, I have been thinking about picking up one of these for a future build question is, which one ? I don't need a super detailed photo etched nightmare ,,,,,,BUT once completed I want to look into the case and see a Ferrari 250 GTO It can be a curbside or maybe just a basic platform style kit. so, which one and why ?
  10. Really nice. Well done I built one of these last year. and I must say I was very pleased with how well it went together and the finished product.

  12. You are not alone, Foose hasn't done anything yet that appeals to me . And I definitly will not pay extra for a model kit just because his name is on the box
  13. I agree with Harry on this one. Seller has ovboiusly stumbed onto a profitable idea. As far as parting out vintage kits,,,,,,, if no one is willing to pay the price to buy it whole,,,, why not part it out ? A seller can't afford to sit on dead inventory forever and still be profitable. You would be surprised how many people that have vintage kits needing only small parts to complete the one they have. I know a guy who has been doing it for years ,,,and doing quite well at it As far as finding a used junker ( of any kind or any age) that actually has saleable parts on it for $75 ,,,,,,,,,,,,good luck with that
  14. VERY nice, This is one thats been on my 'want to do' list for quite some time. I have a few pictures of the actual car in it's current unrestored state if anyone wants to see them
  15. Who they sponsor( or don't sponsor ) has ZERO influence as to where or who I buy auto parts from ( or any thing I buy actually) .I buy based on service 1st, price 2nd I try my best to buy locally and usually try my local mom and pop shops first for as much as possibile
  16. There was a time when I wanted to go nuts with details on every build I did. Now that I've gotten older, I find myself rarely wanting to do more than maybe plug wires or heater hoses. But mostly now it's an out of the box builds for me ( I don't do contests )
  17. Ditto. I've been slowly stashing away all kinds of early 30s kits for later on builds
  18. Shame , they have two different sizes in the pkg. Me personally I tend to think they would sell better if they were like all the other tire packs and customer received 8 of all the same tire. same deal on the blue steak slick sets. .
  19. Looks pretty good to my eyes. Sometimes you just gotta knock something simple out to get back in the swing of things. So good for you I have'nt even turned the light on over the model bench since sometime this past spring
  20. My one and only 62 BelAir build ( for now)
  21. Very nice. Ya gotta like the old MPC kits . I have one of these old builtups, but mine doesn't look near as good as this
  22. I've got maybe a half dozen or so of these left from back when they first came out . So I have serious doubts I'll be in for any new releases . UNLESS there is something drastically different ( doubt it ) to warrent a purchase. If I do it would be for the box art only. For some reason it reminds me of the original issue AMT 1968 Torino kit .
  23. This thing is just horrible, please pack it up ( carefully ) and send it my way so I can give it a proper disposal jk , btw. I like it a lot . I assume a recent AMT chassis / parts to finish it ? I'ven looking for a decent mpc 1971 challenger to do this exact car and once I get to the that point I may just use the Comp resin body and call it good
  24. Very true and i agree it is very nice. BUT, at the modelhuas price of almost $100 , IMO, your in the price range of a decent builtup . And for me personally, I would rather have the stryene builtup..........................my opinion only. I've bought 1 each of a hardtop and a convertible rebuilders in the last 2 years or so give or take and I don't think I put more than $100 in either one. Here are just a few recent sales ( not mine nor do I know the sellers ) http://www.ebay.com/itm/1968-DODGE-CORONET-R-T-CONVERTIBLE-ANNUAL-BUILT-RARE-/221275997243?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item338513c43b http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-MPC-1968-DODGE-CORONET-R-T-HARDTOP-BUILDER-BOX-/290949957470?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item43bdf8075e http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-MPC-1968-Dodge-Coronet-R-T-/161093367929?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item2581e9b879&nma=true&si=fXZpXBilaHOBbEn96wGNMElhH9o%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
