"Holy Grail" Models?
gtx6970 replied to Billy Kingsley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My holy grail kit changes as I find it. Fortunately,,I have most of the kits I've ever really lusted after. And by todays standards I am in most of them pretty cheap My top five are as follows Top of my list though is the Barry Setzer Vega AA/FC kit I have this one both as a nice builtup and a sealed untouched original kit Followed real close by the Color Me Gone 1968 Charger AA/FC kit . Have one as a builtup,,,I will find the unbuilt someday if the funds will ever allow (had one sealed inside and foolishly sold it many years ago ) I have a real nice built of a Charle Allen Dart AA/FC ( I bought it exactly as shown here ) Someday would like to have an unbuilt version for the stash Johan 1969 GTX ,,,I've got a decent builder and really want an unbuilt in the box kit Johan 1970 Road Runner , Again have a decent builtup,,,but really want an unbuilt to go along with it -
One of my favortie cars,,got one painted and thats as far as I got. Never seen it in the Worthington Dodge livery though. But then again finding pics of this car back in the day are not easy.

MCM Forum - expert work expected?
gtx6970 replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Offering criticism when not asked for will drive potential members/posters away,,,mark my word. I follow this board because I like to build model cars. Not because I care what one person thinks about anyone elses work,,, good or bad . I may not agree with the style or theme of every build on here but I darn well will not tell another person what they 'should' or shouldn't like . If the builder is happy with how said model turned out,,so be it. Who am I to tell him is paint job sucks or his tires are out of scale etc etc etc -
1/16 Scale Army Vega Funny Car - Finished 10/14/2018
gtx6970 replied to Mooneyzs's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Just when I thought it couldn't get any better. You pop in with something like these 3d printed pieces. Keep em coming. I am so looking forward to this one getting finished -
Not that I am aware of . Every 1970 Challenger I know of had either rallyes or 5 spoke road wheels It could be done but will require either resin pieces or a good parts stash

check this auction out.
gtx6970 replied to jbwelda's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've seen the listings before from the same builder before . Pretty interesting subject matter in most cases. But not in the price range I'm comfortable paying. I for one have no problem buying a built kit to display in my case as is ,,,I just don't take credit for it . IF it fits within my interests range. If it looks well built and fits in my price range ,,sure . why not. To be honest I have maybe a half dozen or so I've bought over the years,,,most are older long out of production stuff. -
A major portion of my stash was purchased for less then $10 ea,,,,with many less then $5 ea. ,,,, My local Johnnys Toys you could buy most of the current ( at that time ) 1/25th scale kits for $4.99 and thats just in the last 20 years. Yes,,I'm old enough to remember buying model kits in the mid-late 60's time frame . Build them in a day them crash them the next or sometimes the same day. Then take my allowance the next weekend and do it all over again.

Moebius Models '59 Dodge & Chrysler Turbine Car.
gtx6970 replied to W-409's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Pretty sure there is a wheelbase difference between the Dodges versus Plymouths of the late 50's . And I think the Chryslers were even longer. -
Moebius Models '59 Dodge & Chrysler Turbine Car.
gtx6970 replied to W-409's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Turbine car does nothing for me ( have several ) BUT,,,,,,, that 59 Dodge would be a welcome addition to the stash -

Sox & martin 1970 Superbird Help needed
gtx6970 replied to 72 Charger's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I've never see any pics of the S+M Birds bottom side,,,,but if they used stock street birds as a starting point they would be either grey or black undercoating -
Not trying to be a nit picker here. but wouldn't info on the all new upcoming hudson kits be better served in a thread about the all new upcoming hudson kits instead of over taking a thread tagged for the all new upcoming 65 Plymouth kit. Speaking only for myself,,, I have zero interest in said Hudson so to wade thru it to ck on updates of the Plymouth just seems counter productive

What tall can paints are safe?
gtx6970 replied to fantacmet's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
the cheap stuff at my local auto parts store ,,,I think its Duplicolor -
Ths is my plan. Use the cover photo on the April 1970 Popular Hot Rodding as my basis,,,it's the ONLY picture I have of the car where the actual car and the kits hood scoop match. Ps, great find on the picture of it with a Shaker,,,thats a new one on me.

Sox & martin 1970 Superbird Help needed
gtx6970 replied to 72 Charger's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
That one is a clone, Real Bird, but not the actual S+M car ( I know who the owner is ) . Neither of the actual S+M cars I believe has been accounted for -
Sox & martin 1970 Superbird Help needed
gtx6970 replied to 72 Charger's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
best I have been able to gather ,,,,,,Both cars were Hemi 4 spd , with white interior. My question is , with or without console ? As far as decals you can probably get most , if not everything from the Revell 67 GTX , I have Slixx sheet #1367 and it has the S+M decal for the wing. Just be carefull, every pic I have seen of the Bird has been silver lettering, most of the cars had gold lettering on the door and quarter. so keep that in mind when doing a decal purchase This one might work as well http://www.slixx.com/s1367.htm?id=2680 I have this picture as well saved -
I am curious how much better the glue kits look compared to the snap kit once completed and in the case . My daughter and I did one of the snap kits last year and are more than happy with it

If your including drag cars variants. There was also a 1967 Color Me Gone Charger funnycar kit. It could only be built one way. It included an altered wheelbase charger funny car body that was molded in white. The chassis and components were molded in a light grey.

Went thru a similar issue when stripping a Polar Lights 65 Dodge a year or so ago. It was about ready to drop the body in the trash and start over . Finally got the paint to loosen up after soaking in brake fluid for over a week , even then it took a brillo pad to get the paint to come off
