  1. I dont have a lot of experience in buying 3d printed stuff. But I would say overall print quality between the 2 is the same. Both have some very fine texture to them But cant say if that texture would get better with primer on them or not. I will say the 3d Scale parts supplied grill is very nice in my hands and looks better in regards to in hand finish . But it has been sprayed with Revell Chrome spray , so maybe thats the difference I personally would be very happy with either one given no other choice Im MY build I will probably use the 3D scale supplied grille and the Few Sprues Loose back end
  2. On a side note. I also worked with Bedlam Creations and he made me a decal to do the trunk finish panel Bedlam Creations - Creators of custom waterslide decals for guitars, miniatures, models, and more! I may , Or may not use these , time will tell as I progress forward on this build So there is that option if you prefer
  3. As many may know here I own a 1966 Satellite and have long desired a conversion to backdate the 67 GTX kit to replicate my car, Well, we now have 2 companies doing them ( Yippee ) 1st one I worked with 3d Scale Specialties, poking and prodding to have him do them , even sent him pictures and a spare body and part to scale to I received the parts back a month or so ago. Looks killer except IMO only the gap / area between the tail lights and trunk panel could be a little wider by just a few thousands of an inch. But overall very very nice. Tail lights are molded in as one piece. Grille come pre painted with Revell chrome and seems to be holding up to my handling very well Biggest downfall for this one is the rear bumper and finish panel/tail lights is printed as one unit. Not an issue except the rear bumper on the 1/1 has a depression in it but the 3d printed part this area is a raised lip. Wrong for my car, BUT perfect for a car that happens to have the optional rear bumper guards , SO IMO its a win , just not for my own car IMO I think the details on the finish panel are a bit too bold and the letters are raised, should be depressed Overall Very nice I give it a B https://www.ebay.com/itm/135163477887 2nd is Few Sprues Loose on Ebay Gille is just as nice with a bonus the upper mildg is part of the hood and is printed separately . Rear finish panel is a little better / seems to be more correct to the 1/1 , with separate lenses for both tail lights, back up lights , front head lights and turn signal lenses I can get it off the sprues easily and if the lenses fit nice I may upgrade that grading. On this one the builder is required to re-use the Kit rear bumper Great in my case for the above mentioned issue. But getting it attached may or may not be an issue ( we will see on that later this year when I get back to this build ) I would like to mention neither kit supplies the 66 only front bumper, so the builder is required to fill the turn signal lights in the 1967 bumper and ' rechrome ' it . I've mentioned to BOTH suppliers to produce the 1966 Only wheel covers. SO, whether or not that happens????? we will see if they materialize (fingers crossed on those) https://www.ebay.com/itm/375723598761 Also, If the builder intends to build a Petty 1966 Belvedere the finish panel detail is moot point ( it doesnt have one ) IMO the price difference between the 2 is how its received, Cheaper version is still on the print board or what ever its called requiring more work from the builder, pieces are off this carrier , chrome sprayed grill , etc etc 99% of the builders receiving either one will be ecstatic with their choice Im sure of it.
  4. I'll have a similar picture in coming years. But will be all convertibles I have my 58 On the bench now trying to decide on color combinmation . So maybe later this year
  5. Nice, I have both the 1958 and a 1960 Edsels to build as well, Gives me all 3 years . All convertibles
  6. I might. Will ck tomorrow
  7. Ive seen some early on photos of this car it was still running the crossram and holley carbs Like mentioned, these cars changed week to week
  8. I think most of the 59 hardtops were Re-released in snap or craftsman series kits. But as far as I know the convertibles were one and done with exception to a 59 Ford Sunliner ( molded in yellow version )
  9. Great looking car. Even with its quirks It makes a great display and not commonly seen build
  10. Not an easy one to find. Ive never seen another one built yet
  11. Not sure how rare it is , But I started with a near mint unbuilt kit
  12. This ^^^^ Hobby Lobby has whats called beading wire. Avail in a few different sizes and colors I believe
  13. Nice. I just picked up one of these kits today. Was gonna just build it box stock Not anymore You just made my decision on which car to replicate.
  14. Thanks didnt think of that Dug out the remains of the decal sheet and sprayed the Tamiya clear over top of the Testors I had sprayed a few days ago. NO issues Thanks again Is now cleared and set aside to cure for a few weeks, Then will take a light hand polish to it Im on a prep, paint and decal a bunch of bodies for a while. As I have a boatload of decals I want to use up before they get any older Word to the wise for anyone who wants to build this particular car using the current MPC kit. The decals take some work to fit, even then not perfect . I think they were designed for the Johan kit
  15. Ok, short version of long story In fear of having issues with slixx decals I cleared over them with Testors Wetlook clear ( All I had here for the time ) I have no local source for Testors, But have one for Tamiya . Are both clears a Lacquer Paint is rattle can Duplicolor red in the larger touch up cans Ive used both clears on said base paint before with no issues. So the body paint I have no concerns But Can I use the tamiya clear on this build with the decals having been cleared with Testors on them with no issues Is the new Testors Extreme Lacquer and Testors One coat clear same as the old Wet look ? ,,,just different label

  17. I don't think a belv sedan had any trim on the back end. Odds are what ever trim is on the race car was owner added
  18. I have a Johan 1964 Dodge nearly this exact color Im considering doing this as you describe
  19. Thanks. This particular car along with the CMG 68 funny are my 2 all time favorites Great looking cars
  20. Thanks Looking at pictures including the I posted. It shows a pretty long tins covering the blower hat. I'll build the chassis box stock And make my own forward tin to cover it seal to the body.
  21. Ok. I have a body I bought several years ago. I have it sitting on a polar lights chassis and tins. Issue is. Engine and interior tins is to far back from the windshield. If I move the engine and that section of the tin. I have an issue where the tin no sits down on the seat bucket .if that makes sense. So should I leave engine where it's at...and just extend / custom make an interior tin piece where it seals to the base of the windshield? This is slated to be Nelson Carters Imperial Custom car ..the bright green version
  22. Thanks. I've been here almost 6 years. And found no issues with any kit stored there. Knocks on wood Summers here are quite warm But fortunately the house/ garage faces east. So it doesn't get the full blast when the sun is hottest. At least That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it Again....knocks on wood
  23. I usually paint them black or same color as the exterior
