gtx6970 replied to DoctorLarry's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Most of the plants they will be grey primer. ( LA plant cars were black primer) The amount of overspray underneath varied from car to car No mopar cars were ever full body color bottom side Unless fully undercoated the only black will be the wheelhouse area -

These were/ Are very odd yet neat lookign cars and quite unique even for the period I built one several years ago, But kept it a curbside model

OMG, THAT Is insane work . hard to believe its 1/25th scale

Waiting on some detail supplies - seat belt components and photo etch pieces . So, in the meantime working on the chassis and interior Bench seat is Harts Parts..it's not exact. But it'll work. Hard to warm it in hot water to bring the backrest portion more vertical Made seat track risers Dana and springs are from the revell 68-69 Charger Chassis on the right is for the Grotheer car

edit, wrong car build

Is all you want the dodgefever decals alone , large and small ? If so, I got em. Just need address

Thanks, Been looking thru any - all decals sheet I have here Found the NHRA decal on the recent MPC Challenger funnycar sheet Although its not the exact decal from back then , It will work just fine for my shelf No luck of any kind finding the Plymouth race team decal anywhere, and doubt I will

Jake King ( S+M head mechanic for ages ) started as a diehard Ford man. But gained his notoriety with S+M . He actually campaigned a light blue Ford Thunderbolt back in the day BUT, to remain close to his roots so to speak . All the S+M engines were painted Ford blue back then

Engine repainted the correct Ford Blue And I have to give a huge shoutout on the AFB carbs by Fireball. These things are miniature works of art There is no kit carb that comes even close to the detail these have for something so small Fireball Modelworks home page

Can anyone tell me what the decal is on the front fender, Below the belvedere emblem forward of the wheel opening? It looks like it MIGHT be a Champion or maybe B+M decal???? What about the oval decal on drivers window? small rectangular one on lower quarter window. Below Hurst decal? I'm trying to make this a reasonably accurate version of the actual car back in the day. Had to buy a 2nd decal sheet to get the trunk lid decal Early car had said trunk decal and NO hood scoop. Scoop was added at some point, then later the d=trunk decal was eliminated. Im undecided if I will add the scoop or not I got a resin bench seat in from Harts parts, Its not dead on accurate. But close enough I can live with it.

I Just did this very trick for the first time.( only not a ford ) Works very well Very light coats. let each one flash over a few minutes before the next, about 3rd or 4th pass it will have a nice clean color I pulled the tape off after about 10-15 minutes ( its lacquer ) This is all rattle cans btw

I have 2 interiors painted One in pearl white And a 2nd in semi gloss black....just in case. Head rests are modified from the AMT 1968 roadrunner kit Dash is done for both this S+M car. And the red one is for the Grotheer car. Simultaneous build

Made my day. The final piece I needed to replicate my actual car( outside of the correct interior, But I can live with the 67 if needed ) 1966 Satellite spinner hubcaps https://www.ebay.com/itm/376110482918

well, I just sent he McCandless family a message Hoping maybe Herb remembers the car Mike McCandless owns several of the for S+M cars https://www.soxandmartin.com/ PS, If you really zoom in on these 2 pictures It sure looks like white head rests to me. In any of the pictures I can find of what looks like a stock GTX , None have a class designation in the windows. Which makes me beginning to think it was a very early photo op moment OR it's a Show car / Clinic exhibit car only
-
Anyone able to confirm or dispute The 440 GTX had white interior.?? Sure looks like it in the pics Ive found so far The car on the left in both pictures

Nice work

Many many thanks. I got decals on it yesterday. Clear on it today , I had a slight snafu as the decals are getting old and Ronnie Soxs name fell off on both sides. So after a light mist coat. I layed them back on , then buried them in clear But I have to say. Im am over the moon happy with how the clear layed down. Amazing for Duplicolor 1K straight from the rattle can clear 2 maybe 3 real light mist coats, then 2 or 3 wet coats. Decals are a little thick . As I can see the edges of them. But,,I think I can live with it Now to let it sit a few days while I work on the rest of the build Also. Have rolling stock picked out. Redlines and Blue Streaks for the win
