  1. I wish I could say I built this one, but I bought it as is off Ebay last week . I've had a builder of this car for years and never done anything with it . So when I stumbed onto this one, I made an impulse buy. And It showed up yesterday afternoon with the original box and instruction sheet. It's not as nice as one if I did it myself and maybe someday I'll redo it ( Ok, doubt it ) and for now it fills a hole on my shelf of a pretty obscure kit. Only thing I did was coat it with some future and that actually caused the decals to lift on the one side in a small area . But I've had that happen once before and on that car the decals laid back down over time so I hope this one does the same. If the seller is a member here, thank you I am happy with it.
  2. Thats chump change, heres one for the big boys http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-8-scale-scratch-built-1931-Daimler-Double-Six-by-giuseppe-da-Corte-/160807401314?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item2570de3762
  3. Your best bet then is find a resin kit , IF ( key word ) you find a promo if avail and it's not warped you WILL pay thru the nose for it . Unwarped cars of the acetate era demand big money compared to the usually warped commen cars. AFAIK , all promos from about 1963 and earlier were acetate . and 99% of the times they warped.
  4. I got into a small bidding war on ebay a week or so back. and my purchase showed up this afternoon,,, needing some small repairs done. But I'll post some pictures in the drag section this evening.
  5. Thanks for all the info. I had a feeling there were differences and to be honest this particular car is the only reason I am thinking about picking up a Revell 62 kit, but I want an up top. The rest I can fudge my way thru . Anyone tried to fit an MPC up top to the revell body yet ?
  6. Your better than I did, I've gone thru about 450-500 pages so far in the past 6 months or so And I've got hours on hours in it. Yet I keep going back for more. Probably one of the best threads ever . I think I've about wore out the right click save option on my pc
  7. I would be in for that one And not to sound like an idiot, but whats the difference between 1961 and 1962 Vettes that a person couldn't use the current 62 kit to do a BJM car ?
  8. Already been thru the HAMB threads, and there are several covering various cars / types from days gone by. Got a couple months to kill off, go thru this one http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=228509
  9. Ditto, and In a heartbeat
  10. Ok, Yes I was bored this morning waiting for the shop to warm up. So I was rummaging thru my pictures files doing some sorting and organizing when I stumbled on this. I have NO idea when or where I got it or who took it. But it's marked Chicago Auto Show - 1973 . But I thought it was pretty cool and a venue one normally doesn't see AA/FC cars in back then.
  11. some people have WAAAAAAYYY to much idle time
  12. Is this body the one with the chrome insert between the tail lights ? is/was there a kit that didn't have this piece ? ps, I think there are/were subtle differences between this year and the 71-72 Demon version. So I'll also ask , whos decals ? Already ordered the Demon sheet from Chuck for the upcoming Demon re-issue . But I do have an MPC dart sport kit on the shelf that I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it ( till now )
  13. Very well done. I have always liked the late 50s fin cars, and am slowly stockpiling kits for later on. After seeing this one done, I'll add one of these to the list
  14. Vanishing point,,,the whole movie is a chase scene I also like the remake of Gone in sixty seconds, where Elanor is pulling away from the helocopter in the drain
  15. Paymet sent. How about a simple sheet for the John Petrie demon ?
  16. I'll second that.
  17. From what I remember, most of the big guns the cars were completely lettered ( with exception to smal sponser decals) So I say clear over them . I have a picture around here somewhere of the Gene Snow 1970 Challenger and it has a considerable shine to the whole body shell as well as polished aluminum interior tins. The big guys were there to make a statement as well as win
  18. Challenger hands down. Although I have one of each in the shop right now to work on.
  19. any chance of the challenger decals as well ? Ether way, I'm in - pm sent
  20. A 1970 Superbird is nothing more than a 1970 Roadrunner with a 1970 Dodge Coronet ft end sheetmetal added. ( besides the back glass and nose cone obviously )
  21. I know Mopar had Bendix FI in 1958 and I've seen a late 50's Pontiac that was FI
  22. Were some of them fuel Injected ? I seem to remember one at a local show several years ago that was FI I have always liked the late 50's fin cars , and this one is no exception. Anyone have pictures of one of them done and/or in process ?
  23. I've always been into cars. and I like working with my hands . models seemed logical to me
