Anyone know of the ft axle in the new MPC Mustang funnycars are wider , narrower or same as the one in the Challenger funnycar.? The one in the challenger just looks to narrow / wrong for the body. And I have an older builtup of a Soapy Sales car where the ft axle is wider and so much better looking. I just don't know if its the original kit axle or not. I have a few Barry Setzer Vega FC builtups and the ft axle in all of them is definitly wider than the challenger axle

This one is more of a 're do ' so to speak. I built this one many years ago and found out a couple years later I had the wrong color int and exterior lettering. So I was never happy with it. Well, about 3 weeks ago while surfing Ebay I found the correct decals to do the light blue lettering. So I took it apart,,,,, carefully. Then removed all the decals from so many years ago with scotch tape hoping I didn't hurt the paint. ( that was fun ) Resprayed the interior in something to more closely resemble the blue/teal color int, and relettered the exterior of the car. It looks so much better now and back in the case it goes for the next 20 years. Enjoy, Comments both good and bad always welcome. Yea, I know it's missing the chrome trim above the tail lights, this one was done back before I had internet access and not a lot of research material on hand at the time. I didn't even know there was supposed to trim there in the 1st place. ( Not a GM guy at heart ) Few moreNot much in detail , just added plug wires and fuel lines

I think we must have lived on the same street. I can only wonder how much stryene melted in our ft yard back then

I've used and do have a simple single stage airbrush, but to be honest 99% of the time the color I want is avail in rattle cans so they are just easier for me, if I had to dig out the airbrush when ever I wanted to spray paint something,, then deal with cleaning said air brush,I would never get the ambition to build anything. I have a 3 tone build planned that I will almost have to dig the air brush out for,, so I may do 2 bodies at once ( both cars will be the same 3 colors and paint scheme)

Ok, I'm gonna ask,,,, where does one get a pea sized skull ? ps, and I am digging the plug wires lettering btw

gtx6970 replied to MachinistMark's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I'm good with the lack of metal axles so thats a good thing . The current AMT Duster is equal to the original MPC 71 I have and if the Cuda is at least equilivant to that,,, I'm good with it . And I REALLY am hoping for a drag car version shortly after the stock issue is released. -

gtx6970 replied to Darin Bastedo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Wow, I guess that makes me old. I'll venture a guess that at least half my stash were $9.99 or less , with quite a few at $4.99 + $5.99 -

Al Hanna's Eastern Raider Pinto funny car
gtx6970 replied to ratnasty's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Besides the chassis how much different is the Johan kit compared to the revell kit. I've got a bunch of the Johan Pintos but none of the Revell kits, and this build looks pretty cool and fits in with my time line interests -
Family interest in models?
gtx6970 replied to johnbuzzed's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My daughter has taken a mild interest in modeling. She keeps asking when she can can get back the bench to finish here clear trailer for her polar lights 1965 Dodge buildup just gotta clean up some stuff off the bench , get her a chair and let her at it. ( she'll be 13 next month ) -

The link above to the Chi Town Hustler, is it the original car or a new modern 'NewStalgia " car ? Article is worded to say it's the original car, yet some things look wrong, ( rear wheels as an example )

I've never tried this yet, but I may have to soon. My idea is take a plastic bag, spray that expanding foam into it then , while it's expanding set both the model and the bag in a box. that way the foam kind of surrounds the model as it forms inside the box . I would try it without the model first to make sure the foam doesn't react with the bag,,, and melt thru it,,, so to speak

Pair Of '64 Super Stocks: Ford Thunderbolt & Dodge 330 -Finished-
gtx6970 replied to W-409's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
ps, the T bolt kits are one of my favorite kits. Just add some blocks under the rear leaf springs to get it up off it's butt and it makes nice example of a vintage drag car. -
A few factory stock builds 1970 Dodge Charger - replica of a good friends 1/1 car Replica of my former 1/1 1969 GTX Also, I am building a replica of my former 1/1 1970 Challenger 340 1969 Charger Daytona ( AMT kit )

Although my stuff is no where near the caliber of some being shown here. There was a time when I would get a little detail crazy, but for the most part anymore I stick pretty close to box stock with maybe plug wires . Here goes 99% of what I build are vintage drag cars ( all makes ) and Mopar Muscle cars 1965 Landy AFX Dodge 1964 Hubert Platt Thunderbolt Dougs Headers - Chevy 2 Much 1964 Super Stock Dodge Wild Willie Borsch Altered

Modifying a Promotional Model.
gtx6970 replied to Wheels's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
REALLLLLLY depends on the promo in question. Modern promos (IMO) will never have the value or following the vintage stuff does. So, IMO, modify it anyway you want , I doubt it ill hurt the value all thet much , if any. I collect old Mopar muscle car promos and ANY modifications , repairs, and/or flaws drops the value considerably ( mine are all 1973 and older )
