  1. Although my stuff is no where near the caliber of some being shown here. There was a time when I would get a little detail crazy, but for the most part anymore I stick pretty close to box stock with maybe plug wires . Here goes 99% of what I build are vintage drag cars ( all makes ) and Mopar Muscle cars 1965 Landy AFX Dodge 1964 Hubert Platt Thunderbolt Dougs Headers - Chevy 2 Much 1964 Super Stock Dodge Wild Willie Borsch Altered
  2. REALLLLLLY depends on the promo in question. Modern promos (IMO) will never have the value or following the vintage stuff does. So, IMO, modify it anyway you want , I doubt it ill hurt the value all thet much , if any. I collect old Mopar muscle car promos and ANY modifications , repairs, and/or flaws drops the value considerably ( mine are all 1973 and older )
  3. You going to replicate any particular drivers T bolt ? Per info on another board , The best paint I've found so far to replicate the T bolt int color is a Tamiya Champagne Gold over a dark primer base this is a 1965 Dodge interior but it gives you an idea of the color ps, depending on how your monitor depicts it , picture a light silver with ' just a hint ' of gold tint to it to the get the color.
  4. I'm in awe of every one of you I don't have the talent, time, or the eye sight to attempt some of this stuff .
  5. Me and a couple of my brothers built when we were kids ( 60's + early 70's ) But I'm the only one who kept with them on and off over the past 40 plus years. My youngest daugher has expressed a passing interest in it and has built 2 snap kits and one glue kit( the clear car trailer kit ) so far. my wife has ZERO interest other than keeping track of the money I spend on them . But at least she tolerates them and me . so I'm good with that.
  6. I'm waiting. and watching for issues if any . I built one of these the 1st time around and didn't do it any justice. When the re-issue came out a few years ago I grabbed 2 (just in case ) Hopefully the next time it's turn out much better
  7. thats so wrong on so many levels
  8. ps, the new wheels look jaw dropping real I ck in on this from time to time. And I have to keep reminding myself this is entirely scratchbuilt. amazing is a huge understatement
  9. I have one of these same kits to do as well. So thanks all for the pictures links . And really looking forward to some build pictures
  10. Looking good so far. Never was much of a gasser fan,,, but thats changing the more I see done.
  11. John, I build 1/1 cars for a living. and I ask all my customers from the very beginning. What do THEY want in a finished product ? then I try my best to acheive that goal. If there happy, I'm happy. So , if your happy with it. Carry on and enjoy it and all the pleasure it gives you. Life has enough bumps along the way to worry about opinions on an online forum board (mine included btw ) . I can certaintly appreciate the craftsmanship in the build and all it's details , it's just the 1/1 subject matter does nothing for me .
  12. I like the overal quality and attention to detail , it's just the subject is to me uglier than sin. BUT, I'm not building it either so my opinion is moot point. That said, the problem with pointing out an error such as this (had it been mentioned earlier) can and will be taken ' by some' as bashing it. Maybe the builder wouldn't but one never knows how any one takes criticism . And my parents always told me, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. I build for me and me alone,,,, so I try to make them accurate within a reasonable effort. BUT, if it's not 100% dead nuts on, I'm not going to loose any sleep over it. I don't do contests, and the only ones who see my stuff outside of my family are the ones I post pictures of online ( which accounts for about a 1/4 of what I have in the case btw) Besides, Everyone ( Ok, maybe most of us ) learn from there mistakes, it what makes us human. Like I said earlier,,, carry on and enjoy the ride while we still can.
  13. I thought Good Stuff did the pieces for the monogram 1970 to convert it into a 1971 ?
  14. Casually looking for a 1961 but might consider a 1960 Chrysler 300 ( hardtop or convertible ) . I know there was not one made in stryene so resin ( if the quality is up there ) WiIl have to do Already ck'd modelhause and all they make is the New Yorker, And I really want a 300
  15. my gutt says if it's not warped by now, it's not going to . If you want to find one of the original Johan 1960 thru 1962 Chrysler New Yorker kit's . open the wallet they get pricey and fast. I occasionaly try to get a 1961 but would consider a 1960. but I'm not paying nearly a C note for a builder. Unbuilt ? is really gonna hurt
  16. The wheels, and the blower are painted with Metalizers then clear coated with semi gloss clear testors Blower and rear wheels are magnesium and the ft wheels are aluminum ( both lightly buffed then cleared )
  17. Interesting take on the old girl. I just finished one of these , the 3 tone interior was a major pain. Otherwise its really good kit .
  18. Other than the Hemi nothing in 1968 was orange.
  19. Looks good. Not an easy kit to get together
  20. The chassis from the Lindberg 64 Dodge fit my Johan 1961 Dodge perfectly
  21. Weird part is, Promos were molded in Acetate but a kit version the same car was molded in stryene Its not unusual to find a warped promo but a perfectly mint unwarped kit of the exact same car / kit / time period ( Johan 1963 Dodge Polara as an example )
  22. WOW,,,some of you guys are in a league of your own Keepum coming
  23. Your off to a pretty good looking start. Whos car is it going to be ? I don't reconize the color scheme
  24. Should have done this a long time ago. Now that the photos are fixed. A litte bit of info is in order. Polar Lights kit. built box stock . Body was painted last spring when I got on a painting spree , as was the chassis. Then I got interested in something else and this one went by the wayside. I've decided the past few weeks I want all started projects out of the box + off the bench before anything else gets started. ( got about 4 or 5 more to go ) I don't remember the color the body is painted in , might be Testors . But it has a Upol rattel can urethane clear top coat . Chassis is duplicolor red. Wheels were stripped and painted with testors metalizers - rears are magnisium and ft's are aluminum and both with a satin clearcoat. Interior tins are painted with duplicolor chrome to get a polished aluminum look so common with the Gene Snow car. Untill I find the oil filter assy and seat belts, this ones done and in the case. I REALLY like these Polar Lights funnycar kits
