Stacey David's Rat Roaster by : REVELL

That was cool to watch. -
similar concept - just in 1/1 scale http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=7038401&an=0&page=0#Post7038401

My opinion only, build it the way YOU like it. Me personally I don't think the car looks all that good in that color, darker wheels might help, but I doubt it

Why are kits so much money!?
gtx6970 replied to '08SEAL's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
ANY hobby can be 'as expensive' or 'as cheap' as YOU want it to be. I have thousands of dollars invested in model kits and supplies , Could I ge tback out of them what I have invested????, I seriously doubt it. My daughter is taking an interest in models with me and that alone is worth EVERY dime I have invested so far. We finished her 1st glue kit a week or so ago, and it was one of the clear car trailer kits for her snap kit Polar Lights 65 Dodge in so she can put behind her snap kit Dodge ram pickup. She is happy with it, so I am to. -
What's your opinion on clearcoating over decals?

In most cases at the contests I used to attend ,,,,,slick and shiny would win out every time -
Thanks Chuck, I need to proof read my typing better, I knew it was the 70 and somehow typed 71 . And thanks, I wasn't aware Slixx was doing the 1970 flame car sheet. And I have a cady sheet for the 71 but I think it's scaled more for a 1/24th scale body ?????? plus I have a couple of the Harts Parts resin 71 challenger conversions and using the lindberg body over the AMT comglomeration might be a better option,, at least for me anyway . Although I seem to be staying more in the mid sixties era cars at the moment so god only knows when I'll get back into a 70's era kick

For now , Polar lights Funnycars - split between the Charger and the Barrauda kits I have maybe 5 - 6 done and another 8 -10 or so on the shelf. Then it's the Lindberg 1964 Dodge. I have 3 done now and 2 more in the works with about 12 -14 more unbuilts on the shelf with another 6-8 of the Lindberg 1964 Plymouths Followed by the Revell 64 Thunderbolt with 2 done with maybe 6 - 8 unbuilts on the shelf. I have about a dozen of the AMT 62 belairs to do but only 1 done. All vintage drag car projects.

I think this is it . I may order one to be sure. http://www.ebay.com/itm/130682949902?_trksid=p5197.c0.m619

I like this one a lot. Definitly captures the feel of the cars back then. Lightweight , Simple and crazy fast. Untill recently I was never a big fan of the old dragsters. That changed when I went to the NHRA reunion in Bowling Green . I have to give a big kudos the drivers of the cars.

I used to have a small blade retractable tip cutter . It was perfect for trimming BMF on model bodies. anyone know if this is still avail anywhere . the end of the blade was only maybe 1/8" - 3/16" wide and it swiveled in the end of the housing if I remember right

Born in 1959 got into hot wheels and model cars late 60's , been hooked ever since. got into real cars by the mid- 70's . By the early 80's I had 2 hemi car's,, several 440 six pack cars and a Daytona, ( all now gone ) ( with a slight deviation along the way for ' the ladys' - married in 1993 ) Turned 16 in 1975 and had saved my money to buy my own first car. Driving around in my parents 1973 Dodge Colt station wagon did very little for ones image,( although the back of that little wagon could tell some pretty cool stories all there own ) After a brief stint with a 6 cyl Pontiac Tempest I wanted something cool and fast, but it had to be cool 1975-76 time frame My dad and I went to look at a 1957 Chevy 2 door hardtop, 283 and 3spd , with the continental spare tire on the trunk. Sadly the car had been wrecked and hit a culvert in a ditch. Bending the ft lower frame crossmenber. And my dad wouldn't let me buy it. It took some persuassion on my part with my dad. But I ended up buying a friends of mines 1967 Cougar 390 auto, I beat the snot out of that car for about a year, till the oil consumption got to be to much and I didn't have the money to fix it back then. So I sold it to my uncle and he replaced the motor and went dirt track racing with it , I think he ended up junking the bent banged up car after a year or so of racing it . The summer of 1977 before my senior year I was at a friends house down the road when I spotted a blue 1969 Road runner in a guys ft yard for sale. After stopping to talk to the guy about it. I was interested. So the next day my dad and I went and looked it over, and I drove it home. He wanted $200 for it, when I told him all I had was $150 he took it. AH,,,,, the good old days of cheap and fast. It was bright blue with blue interior , 383 column auto and bench seat . But it had air shocks , and these really cool aluminum slots all the way around and boy was it loud. But I was in heaven.I was hooked , And I've had nuttin but mopars since. 1986 I went to work as a dodge dealer tech for the next 25 years. While there the office manager was this really good looking brunette. it took some gusto on my part but did get up the nerve to ask here out, . We've been together ever since, now married 19 years with 2 daughters . But from time to time, I do think about where my life would be if I had bought that Chevy.

Anyone know how close demensionally the old MPC kits are compared to the Lindberg kit.? The vinyl top pattern on the AMT kit has turned me off to use it as a starting base I have a few of the MPC pro stock challenger hoods and was wondering how well the hood will match up with the Lindberg body. I have maybe 3 or 4 MPC 1972-73 builtup bodies but starting with fresh new plastic might be a better option. Chuck, Are the yellow side panels on that body painted or decals ? Does anyone do the flame type side panel decals to do an accurate 71 Missle car?

Duplicolor lacquer with Tamiya primer?
gtx6970 replied to CEKPETHO BCE's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Been duplicolor OR Brite Touch primer on my builds for years .(I've been told Brite touch is a re-labeled Duplicolor brand) and Duplicolor rattle cans for quite a while with no issues. I just make sure to put a light primer coat on 1st,,, then followed by a heavier coat, sand and paint with the desired top coat color. But I use a U-POl urethane rattle can clear. EDIT, I have NOT used this on a resin piece yet. I just got back into the hobby in the past 6-7 months and a resin project has not come up in the lineup as of yet.
