In what vehicle did you learn to drive?
gtx6970 replied to BeakDoc's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Off road was the family tractor which was great to learn how to drive a clutch . otherwise its A combination of my parents 1973 Ford Torino wagon and 73 Ford F100 pickup( 3 on the tree no less ) and my 1st car , a 1966 Pontiac Tempest . I bought with my own money. Paid a whopping $50 for it and drive it home -
Correct, exhaust manifolds had engine color on them for a very short time

Ps, the 4 blade fan is 66 and MAYBE 67 only. The later street hemi got the 7 blade fan and viscous fan clutch all other years

Yes , simple publicity stunt to draw big money buyers all in under 1 roof. Owners name is Tom L. and he has owned the car for quite a while and YES, he does drive/ has driven it occasionally -

Talk around the community is it will get bid sky high ( 6 to 7 mil ) and end a no sale 1 of three 4 spd cars and the only one in Winchester grey . Ive seen it in person a few times. The car is a knockout in person -

1968 Roadrunner chassis paint

Mopar was primer on the bottom side. with various suspension pieces only painted ( or not painted in some cases ) primer was typically a bluish grey color and it WILL have some body color overspray along the sides of the car But the exact primer color did and does vary by which plant the car was built. LA plant as an example was a REALLY dark grey almost black color No Chrysler product of the period ever had a full body color underside . -
My 2 cents. Move the forward most bracket outward just a tad , basically to the very edge of the intake where you have it now its going to be in front of the carb

I dont believe that is Jay Lenos actual car. I think its there to store while the ca wide fires were going on a while back . he did a show on while it was there

How does one paint/highlight badge scripts?
gtx6970 replied to doorsovdoon's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Ive done this method using both air brush and rattle can paints. Key is VERY light touch with the swab. Best to use it under a lighted magnifier -

foil under paint. I use those real small Tamiya pointed swabs dipped in laquer thinner to remove the paint -
Steve, if Az is on the short list My personal opinion is avoid Phoenix ,,,,,FAR FAR to much traffic and never cools down enough in the summertime , at least not for me . BUT there is much more to do and see in Phoenix if thats your preference. I settled south of Tucson. but can be in Phoenix in about 2 hours if I feel the need to visit and I dont have to deal with the traffic or heat unless I visit

Ive built models off and on since about the age of 6 or 7 . Ive owned all kinds of Mopar muscle from wing cars to Convertibles and a few Hemi cars. Sold my last one about 15 years ago. Ive built several cars for other people over the past 12-15 years So I have been pretty much 'car less ' of our own for a while But got the itch BAD about 2 or 3 years back to get back into vintage Mopar Muscle. But felt a project was of zero interest. SO,,,,last fall I finally made a deal and pulled the trigger on my current car. 1966 Satellite , Hemi auto. In MY dream color combination of black with red interior. Im planning to retire here soon so am hoping to get back to building the smaller scale .......just right now to much fun with the 1/1 hotrod

So far so good . Just my 2cents. But the intake manifold from a Johan kit is much more accurate than either the AMT or Revell version . I have several spares if you want one or 3
