  1. Hard to choose just one this year. They all turned out amazing. Kudos to everyone who actually finished, unlike myself.
  2. To go on with what Rob was saying about the 50% completion, that would be cool if the vehicle used was to be from a prior Cannonball race. In other words, started for one but wasn't finished, and was able to run in the next competition. Considering my Cannonball cars almost never seem to be finished within a year, I'd be up for this. My F-1 Rally truck that was meant for this year would be perfect for that. I'd think it would be even cooler if you would be able to accomplish two for that purpose, for example running a 2016 entry that wasn't finished until 2017 and an individual 2017 entry. Just my .02 cents. Best of luck to everyone in the competition! I didn't even get mine to wheels this year.
  3. Unless things change, I'm going to have to call it quits on the F-1. I just don't have the time to work on it. When I do I'm burned out and tired. I just started work and will be jumping into an engine rebuild for my Astro here soon. And I also have school. The F-1 is too far from paint and needs a lot of suspension work yet that I'm not entirely certain how to tackle. I will post up some pictures of where it sits right now. I had big intentions for it, 3D printed parts (I have my own printer that I've been using), scratchbuilt parts, full wiring, etc. I will still finish the truck but it probably won't be before the deadline, unfortunately. There's always next year.
  4. If that guy is considered a pro I'd hate to see what 95% of this forum classifies as. I don't think I've ever seen a build on here with that much orange peel. I haven't even gotten that much orange peel before, and I consider myself mediocre at best. This guy would shoot flaming projectiles if he saw the work of people on this forum.
  5. Sweet concept! It kinda reminds me of the Mazdarati from Roadkill.
  6. Neat! Nobody would ever expect to see a Wankel Rotary in a Pacer. You have crazy cool creativity Chuck!
  7. I picked up the last Exterminator mine had today. I don't know if they even had any other ones to be honest.
  8. Awesome! I somehow missed this moving to under glass. Really loved watching it come together. It's really cool to see one of Dale's lesser-known cars be built.
  9. This should be wicked if it turns out anything like your Cuda!
  10. Here's a pic of the kits. I would've paid $5 for these boxes alone. lol. New to fotki, Photobucket has been slower than molasses uphill lately. I'm going to see if Fotki works any better. What are your opinions between the two?
  11. I actually built a stock 67 Charger a few years ago from the kit that this tooling is shared with. I was going to probably build it either way but wanted to hear some opinions on the matter. I think this body of the Charger looks really cool as a drag car, and even cooler as an AWB! I'll have to track down a set of reprints for the decals of course. Even if I had the originals they'd be disintegrated by now. lol
  12. Ok so my hometown of Barnesville is host to the Barnesville Pumpkin Festival every ear. There are multiple flea markets set up around the festival, and they often have incredible deals. I found two kits, and both were in good condition. One is built, the other is started. The two kits are a Johan 1963 Plymouth Fury. It's built stock but done fairly well. I've already started disassembling ti for rebuild since it isn't crazy rare. The other kit however is a horse of a completely different color. It's an MPC 1967 Dodge Charger "Color Me Gone" Funny Car. It has a few pieces attached to the frame and the base engine is built. I've seen on Ebay where that kit will go for over $100. Now the real kicker? Each kit cost me $5. Yes you read that right. The Fury doesn't bother me in the least to rebuild, but I have this nagging feeling about the Charger. I know that they are meant to be built, but I just have this odd feeling about it either way. Thanks for looking. All comments welcome.
  13. Very nice! Great attention to detail and I especially like the under-hood weathering.
  14. Beautiful work Joe! I watched the build all the way through. I don't recall if I ever commented because I was speechless at the quality of work you put in. Great build!
  15. I love it!
  16. Lol Bill. I had the second oldest vehicle of anyone at my school. Needless to say my 1990 Chevy Astro doesn't have too much in the way of Sat-Nav or rear view cameras. You can't dare be distracted from it while driving. She seems to be pretty overdue for an alignment. She tends to walk all over the road if you don't use both hands. Needless to say she's taught me how to drive! Can't say that for many others of my generation.
  17. This is from Hemmings from around this most recent Christmas. It's a video ad from 1950 showcasing the build, structure, and strength of the new Fisher body Chevrolets I though it was a pretty interesting watch. Kinda interesting to see how different the market was back then. They wanted as much visibility as possible. I can't see out of the windows of nearly every late model sedan, truck, or SUV I've ever sat in. https://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2015/03/18/midweek-matinee-the-inside-story-1950/
  18. You play as a detective in 1947 Los Angeles. It's made by Rockstar games, the same people that make Grand Theft Auto. It's one of my all-time favorites.
  19. Very nice! I've not even hardly watched NASCAR since he has been out with that concussion. It's better to see him miss the chase this year than not be able to race ever again.
  20. I like it! I have an idea for a late 40s style bank robbery shootout. I don't know if you're familiar with the game L.A. Noire or not, but something to that effect would be what I would replicate.
  21. Thanks Richard.
  22. Thanks Charlie. A lot of people told me that it was their favorite thing in the whole show. Which really made me feel confident. Thanks Carl. I wondered if that was the issue for a lot of people.
  23. Thanks Rick. I understand that issue. I was wondering if that was the thing fro a lot of people Thanks Lance. This isn't my first diorama, it is however my first successful weathered diorama. I'm currently working on a 72 Chevy Nova that I'm researching out the proper rust spots and etc. that you mention. This car was honestly built in like 3 days total time, with half of it taking place at my school in the art room, away from most of my tools and weathering gear. I literally built the diorama in one evening just as something to showcase the car in.I din't have my preferred rusting solution, so as you pointed out the weathering is indeed brushed on. I was out of what I would've preferred to use for a tarp on the 40. That was the plainest paper towel I had on hand. I appreciate your feedback, and am glad that you were honest with me. Thanks Dan. The diorama was in my high school gymnasium. I wish my work space was that big. lol Thanks again Dan. Didn't realize you had commented twice. lol I understand what points you are making Cal. I tried to mismatch the rims to a point, like some are falling off of the tire, some are missing trim rings, hubcaps, etc. It just doesn't really show up in the pictures. I felt that the foliage looked out of place myself. My ground cover reminds me more of a beach, rather than a Farmer's Market in Illinois or whatever the decal I used on the 40 says. lol. Like I said I built the car in a few days time without access to my normal tool collection. Same goes for the diorama. I built it in one evening just as a way to show the car. I appreciate your feedback.
  24. Thanks David. I was wondering if that was the problem for a lot of people. I use the view new content button so I see posts and topics from every section of the forum.
  25. Is this that bad that nobody has said anything about it in 2 months? Or does nobody even check the diorama section of the forum or what? I'm happy with how it turned out, and would be open to any and all feedback, good or bad. I want to improve my skills but really can't when I'm not receiving any input on things I can improve on.
