Longbox55 Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 I have one of those kits, too. Pretty decent kit, even though it's a curbside.
unclescott58 Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 Great look at the kit. I built on a little over 10 years now (maybe?). It's a very nice kit. They also offered in a GMC at one time. I don't know they still do or not. If I find one, I will buy it and build it. I'd love to have a matching Safari to go along with my Astro. Scott
martinfan5 Posted May 29, 2015 Author Posted May 29, 2015 Where's the engine?It was recalled..................
Casey Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 Where's the engine? In the Monogram 1/25 Chevy S-10 kit. Hopefully someday someone will offer an '85-94 version to use with this kit.

wrecker388 Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 I'm building an '88... It has an engine too... I like this! I need better pics of my 90 Daily Driver.
Casey Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 Is that because you want to build one you have/had Entirely possible. I owned a '90 for a few years before I bought my current '95, but the Astro/Safari M-vans have always had nice (mid-size) proportions to my eyes, and the only other close option is the thick, resin Jimmy Flintstone slammer.

Just buy a 95-05 version and then you could build it scale form, there, problem solved
vincen47 Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Growing up, my family had a 92 Safari. What a great van. I'd certainly build one if someone came out with a resin front clip.
Casey Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Growing up, my family had a 92 Safari. What a great van. I'd certainly build one if someone came out with a resin front clip. The good news is the lower body cladding from the '96+ are separate parts, so the body shell is mostly useable for a pre-'94, but the interior is all '96+ so the dash, door panels, seats, steering wheel, etc. would all need to be changed for an '85-'95. I don't recall if Fujimi ever released a 2WD version, but the suspension parts in this AWD version are curbside accurate, so some donor parts could be taken from the Monogram '93 S-10 for an AWD version if you want more accuracy and if the scale difference is negligible.
niteowl7710 Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 There were like a half dozen variations to this tooling including GMCs as mentioned, and 2wd versions. However at the moment only this one is currently in the Fujimi catalog.
Bob Ellis Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Good luck finding these vans. Expensive when you do.
Exotics_Builder Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Good luck finding these vans. Expensive when you do. Well I have these two and they are going up in the trade section (not cheap trades). Just not in the build horizon anymore...
martinfan5 Posted June 11, 2015 Author Posted June 11, 2015 Good luck finding these vans. Expensive when you do. What are you talking about, I paid $16-18(depending on the Yen) for it In stock , right now http://www.hlj.com/product/FUJ18677/Aut

Looks like I bought them at an inopportune time. Edited June 11, 2015 by Exotics_Builder
