John Goschke Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I guess the question is "Which car sucks the least?" In which case it'd be "C," but only because it actually has an interesting engine, a gen-u-wine early Olds OHV V-8, and it looks like it would relatively easy to take all apart and properly finish. The fat radial whitewalls would have to go in the "sell this junk" pile. I think a general moratorium needs to be declaring across all segments of the car hobby on exaggerated patina finishes, especially with clear on them.
Austin T Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I'm not too much of a rod guy but that write in for D is pretty solid.
Tom Geiger Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I wouldn't kick any of them off my shelf. From the aspect of what I'd like to have in my garage... I don't like chopped tops. I don't like fake garage signs or other text on the doors I don't like small block Chevy V8s in traditional style rods If I had to pick one to drive off in, I'd pick C... even if I'm uncomfortable with the questionable use of an American Flag... I could fix that!
cobraman Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 D.None of the above I like this one. Built by the shop I work with. https://youtu.be/qSnPO1Q-MoM Now your talking ! Am not a big fan of the whole "Rat Rod" craz. To each his own.
rusty85 Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 (edited) I'd take C with a decent coat of paint. And just to irritate traditionalists, put a modern ford coyote engine in it. Edited June 17, 2015 by rusty85
Roadrunner Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 None of the above. I feel no love at all for fender-less cars of this sort, even though I've seen some that were very nicely done. I'm not saying I'll never do a model of one, but it's highly unlikely.
Snake45 Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 None of the three really spins my windmill. A is the least ugly to me. I'd change the wheels/tires, and perhaps the stance a bit.
jbwelda Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 what the heck do you mean "'A' or 'B'" and then there is a "C"? jb

Ace-Garageguy Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Bill, what's with the exhaust system on "D"? The megaphone / lakes pipe headers have caps under the turnouts (which don't look right in the photo), and the street exhaust system runs down from the megs and out the back. Click on the youtube video link directly under the photo in post #14 for a better look.
bobthehobbyguy Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I like D Bills the best. A the exhaust and scoop look out of place B the unfinished look is fine if its in progress but not as the final look also the frame doesnt work for me C don't like the patina look and don't approve of the flag, mexican blanket is fine do like engine look
Belugawrx Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 (edited) E I like E.... D second The rest look unfinished to me Edited June 18, 2015 by Belugawrx
Snake45 Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 E I like E.... D second The rest look unfinished to me This one I like! The whitewalls and scallops would have to go, but otherwise, I'd be happy to either drive or model this one.
Jon Haigwood Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 (edited) I like E, would change out the wheels and go with chrome reverse with baby moons. Just noticed on A the horns (?) on front of the frame curve upwards instead of down. Edited June 18, 2015 by Jon Haigwood
Muncie Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 D or E - If D or E were unpainted, it would still be D or E
Ace-Garageguy Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 (edited) E Umm...great looking car, but it's a '32. All the rest are '30-'31 model-A bodies. No wonder so many people seem to be happy with glaring errors on models. Edited June 18, 2015 by Ace-Garageguy
Ace-Garageguy Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Just noticed on A the horns (?) on front of the frame curve upwards instead of down. Yeah...if you build it with the frame upside down.
Ace-Garageguy Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Here's the gold car in progress. Guess we coulda left it that way and called it done. Nah.
Brett Barrow Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Even unfinished like that it's still miles ahead of the others. Only thing I'd do different is to move the rear wheel arches up to match the tire and maybe go with a little less chop (too much chop plus channeled means your head winds up sticking out the roof insert...)
Snake45 Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Umm...great looking car, but it's a '32. All the rest are '30-'31 model-A bodies. I was just about to mention that, and thought I'd make one last pass through the thread to see if anyone else had noticed it. Glad I did.
