Chillyb1 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 This is Tamiya's Citroen 2CV, which is an excellent kit all ways 'round. Paints are Tamiya without any clear coat.
Guest Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Very cool! And well done. Any chance of a better engine pic, and a chassis shot?
Harry P. Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Beautifully done, right down to the yellow headlights.
jaymcminn Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 That is nice. A really sanitary build in a perfect color combination.
Sixties Sam Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Great looking model! Good color combination.Sam
Dave Van Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Very nice build!!!! I have one in stash to build.....My wife was born in Paris France and their family owned a 2CV and a 54 Mercury!!! talk about opposite ends of the spectrum!
bbowser Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Very nice, neat work. I'm always blown away by 3 lug wheels
Chillyb1 Posted July 30, 2015 Author Posted July 30, 2015 Very cool! And well done. Any chance of a better engine pic, and a chassis shot? As you can see, this 2CV has been driven a lot but pretty well maintained: And the best I can do for now: Very nice build!!!! I have one in stash to build..... My wife was born in Paris France and their family owned a 2CV and a 54 Mercury!!! talk about opposite ends of the spectrum! I lived in Paris for two years and would be there still if I could have found a way to pay for it. When did your wife's family own these cars? I'm especially curious about the Mercury because a Simca Vedette would have looked much like a Mercury of that vintage.
PatW Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 (edited) Wow Curtis brilliant build well done. There are quite a few here still in the UK, I see you've chosen factory two tone colours! A friend of ours races one of these in British and European cup series! Edited August 2, 2015 by PatW

She was there from 1958 until 1963 IIRC......Her Dad was military from WWII and just continued on in Paris. She has duel citizenship as if you are born in France you are French....but her folks being US citizens....USA claims too!!!They had a 54 full size Mercury. Her Dad bought it from a fellow service man returning to the USA. My father-in-law loves to tell stories about terrorizing the other French drivers with 'le monster'!!

Dominik Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 like it. Colors are perfect for the "duck". the yellow headlights are a nice touch *thumbsup*
christian-w Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 And all the shiny paint without clear coat! Super. Like the car completely.
sjordan2 Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 Wow Curtis brilliant build well done. There are quite a few here still in the UK, I see you've chosen factory two tone colours! A friend of ours races one of these in British and European cup series! Decades ago I saw a 2CV race like that as a warm-up for the F1 race at Brands Hatch (along with a Ford Escort race). Considering the gravity-defying body roll of a 2CV, there were no casualties.
10thumbs Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 Excellent build! The car looks exactly the way they did back in the day, man they were everywhere too in Europe. Great model you show us!Michael
Shelby 427 1965 Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Lovely Charlestone. My parents had a few of these.
