TooOld Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 (edited) I had planned for this to be a complete restoration but after finding lots of missing parts and lacking the motivation to do the job I decided it would be an experiment in $0 cost model building . No aftermarket bits and pieces , no detailing goodies , even the paint was leftover and sitting on my shelf . The only extra work I did was to remove the hardtop and use an "up top" from a Monogram '59 Impala . It's not a "Top Shelf" but it looks good in my cabinet ! Here's how it looked after being boxed up for 45 years ! Edited February 13, 2020 by TooOld

bbowser Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Great looking model, but you do know it's a '58?
StevenGuthmiller Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Nice Bob!& even though I normally HATE custom wheels, I can live with these.Good work! Steve
Ramfins59 Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Nice job on this rebuild Bob. I like the color.
rustybill1960 Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Very nicely done Bob! I like it a lot Thank You for sharing Later Russ
Deathgoblin Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Very nice! I like the look of the convertible top. I'm with Slusher, though... where did the wheels come from?
DumpyDan Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 That really looks good, the top fits really nice.
TooOld Posted August 28, 2015 Author Posted August 28, 2015 (edited) Thanks for the comments everyone ! I originally built this back around 1970 and I'm not positive but I think the wheels are from the Tom Daniel Paddy Wagon .They look much better after being sprayed with some Alcad Chrome ! James2 Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 I like it just fine. Very nicely done. What wheels are these?
Bob Ellis Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Nice job restoring it to a convertible. Those wheels did not come from that kit for sure, but I don't know the Tom Daniels kit well.I bought that same '58 Impala kit at Sears when they used to sell models. It's the first of the AMT foldable boxes which I think began about 1971. Should have a T273-225 kit number, I think. -225 means $2.25
Mr Stock Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Great job on the resto, I have that exact kit and box art unbuilt upstairs in the stash.Ive had it for absolute years !
TooOld Posted August 28, 2015 Author Posted August 28, 2015 I double checked and the wheels did come from a TD paddy Wagon kit . The newer ones are gold but the chrome ones can still be found .
