Thank you all for watching this project progress... running out of time, but still enjoying this bad boy.

Got some paint on last night... very happy with the color choice... a bit vintage with a modern twist..

Also its quite obvious I do not know how to build a "rat rod" and only know how to make show rods... haha

Hit up the local RiteAid Pharmacy for some paint....4 bottles...  $3.00

Frame was going to be matte finish... but the color pop'ed so nice when glossy... it got a few coats of gloss clear.

Base coat

Clear coat

Started painting the accent color

Then top coated that with some dullcoat with a bit of pearl mixed in.

and a quick lack of patience mock up to see the colors together. B)

Finally i added some wash and Tamiya weathering pigments to the seat and it really brought out the detail...

Like many others, I wish there was a better term for this than rat rod (in scale and 1:1). It has the exaggerated proportions common in many true rat rods, but is just too nice to be stuck with that name.

Anyway, the creativity on this is excellent, and shows how new tech can be integrated into our hobby. Looking forward to more progress.

BTW- the seat and engine are SICK!

The colors you chose are fantastic! The frame looks incredible in that metallic blue and the high quality craftsmanship shows really well. Keep at it, there's still 2 days and nights left!

I feel like I've seen the term "Extreme Rod" used to describe cars built with exaggerated rat rod proportions but nicely finished. I think Extreme Rod defines this particular project perfectly.
