martinfan5 Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 (edited) Is there a British automobile manufacturer anymore? I thought all were sold to foreign companies or closed. blubaja Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Bentley is now under VW. But the only one of those companies that builds super cars, is mclaren.
mike 51 Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 It's always a good thing when someone knows how to research a subject.... and I'll bet you didn't even have to leave your house
martinfan5 Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Bentley is now under VW. But the only one of those companies that builds super cars, is mclaren. I was working on adding "parent companys " to the list
Matt Bacon Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 (edited) ...maybe I should have said "very, very high performance and relatively expensive sports car", rather than "Supercar", if everyone is going to get bent out of shape about what constitutes a supercar or hypercar... ;-PAnd when I say British, I'm not quibbling about who owns what percentage of the company, I mean "Made in Britain by a manufacturer with British heritage". So it's not a Nissan or a Honda...bestest,M. Edited November 11, 2015 by Matt Bacon

ZTony8 Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Hmmmm-the percentages for who owns Aston Martin don't add up correctly.It can't be 110 %.Something's off somewhere.

The Junkman Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Isn't Mini owned BMW. Not a supercar but (based on an afternoon I spent with my son's Cooper S) a super car.
Junkman Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 If RoG told me they live at home, I'd only believe half of it.
ZTony8 Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Jonathon,it still adds up to 110%.39+19=5858+19=7777+11=8888+5+5=9898+2=100100+10(small investors)=110
Chuck Kourouklis Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 P1 is not only super-duper obvious, but a sorely missed boat if they don't go thru with it. Guess we'll have to content ourselves with this... But yes, the P1is really a hyper car. And McLaren does make supercars that might fit the profile - 650S? 570? Wouldn't kick either of those off my bench. Aston DB10 from "Spectre" for a dark horse?
Matt Bacon Posted November 12, 2015 Author Posted November 12, 2015 (edited) It's pretty nice: I discovered at Scale Model World (IPMS UK Nats) last weekend why it scales out to 1/26 width wise and 1/22.5 length-wise. It's because there has to be a whole number of nubbins on the bricks that make it up in both directions, and because the size and spacing of them is dictated by being compatible with the world's most popular plastic brick-based construction toy... Interesting, eh? ;-P bestest, M. Edited November 12, 2015 by Matt Bacon
Chuck Kourouklis Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 I like mine well enough - sure as shootin' it beats nothing at all!I noticed that the axle bricks have been uniform across the Aventador, Veyron, and P1, and wondered what compromises might result - thought perhaps they might play with wheel offsets to bring things closer to scale.Eh, well. They fudge the discrepancies pretty nicely.
