gtx6970 Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 I present proof.http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-BUILT-PARTS-JUNKYARD-LOT-OF-MODEL-CAR-Trailer/131651077154?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131003132420%26meid%3De949b3f82bd34671a8b86431165d9bdb%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D131650396882
unclescott58 Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 ????? Why does that eBay ad make you decide that? They were wild times. But not because of that.
Harry P. Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 That could have been built last week... I guess that would mean the '10s are wild times!
oldcarfan Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Some kid wanted a Bat-mobile really badly. I can't tell what the base car was. Maybe a 64 Plymouth? The trailer came in the Chevy II wagon, I believe.
SfanGoch Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Restore ~Use for PARTS ~or continue to customize !Izzat so?
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 some crude models back then ...ummm...there still are...and still a lot of folks who think they look good too...
Tom Geiger Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 I don't even want that one! And I collect old customs from that era!
Harry Joy Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Oooh! $3.99!!! But there is no "BUY IT NOW" button.
62rebel Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 I can honestly say that I might have built one like that in my early days; everybody has to start SOMEWHERE..
LDO Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 I once got a "junk yard" off ebay. One of the cars was a '68 Cadillac with the roof/glass off a Lancia Stratos. It was poorly done and not finished. I just threw it away.
StevenGuthmiller Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Looks like it could have been one of those kits that was passed down from big brother to little brother..........possibly several times. And embellished each time!I'm not seeing much for usable parts, unless you happen to need a dash & steering wheel for a '63 Olds. Steve
ChrisBcritter Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 I recognize some of the custom parts. Up front they're the hood, headlights and fender extensions from the AMT '64 Grand Prix; it's missing the clear headlight covers and '54 Kaiser grille. Looks like two Double Dragster kit canopies on the back.
oldnslow Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Back then it was "use whacha got". Looks like firecracker fodder.
Jon Haigwood Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 The 60's were wild. I wish I could remember them.
unclescott58 Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 The 60's were wild. I wish I could remember them. I'm young enough to remember them. The 1970's became a little hazy for me. My ingestion of certain substances changed somewhere along the line back then. But before those changes, I remember building kits that weren't much better than that. My kit bashing never turned out that bad. But, it could be bad none the less.By the way, I'm wondering if this auction is worth bidding on for the trailer? The trailer didn't look too bad from what I could see. I personally will not bid on this just for the trailer. But, some others might?
pharoah Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 I didn't know the Batmobile had a trailer! lol.
gtx6970 Posted November 14, 2015 Author Posted November 14, 2015 I was thinkiing it was either a 63 or 64 Oldsmobile. IMO< the trailer is worth the price. I would tell hm to just drop the car in the trash
StevenGuthmiller Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 I was thinkiing it was either a 63 or 64 Oldsmobile. Looks like a Johan '63 Starfire to me.The only '64 Olds kitted was an AMT '64 Cutlass to my knowledge. This looks to be a full size car & appears to be a Johan kit. Steve
Craig Irwin Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 It looks to be that a young boy, perhaps about 12 or 13, had a well stocked parts box and wanted a 1/25 scale Batmobile when the TV show went on air in '66, but all of the kit manufactures were asleep at the wheel. You can see where it had fins at one time, and I'd bet it had some kind of front windscreens at one time too. I guess he couldn't wait 40 years.
