Stuntman Mike Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Hi Finished this after a few years of head scratching. It´s a resin cab from Australia (out of production and manufacturer out of business) with JBOT decals and I used an AMT Kenworth K123 kit as a donor. It has alloy rims and tanks and I did lots of modifications. This build was a real challenge as the cab fought me as hard as it could. The whole paintjob on the cab is a decal, except for the white color. Since the JBOT decals were made to fit the WT9000 cab from a different resin caster....pretty much nothing did actually fit. I´ve had two decal sheets to work with and that saved me in the end. I´ve had to cut the decals into a myriad of pieces and get this puzzle onto the cab without overlapping. This caused me to grow at least seven grey hairs. However, it´s finished and I´m happy with how it turned out. Here´s some outdoor shots: Thanks for looking and best regards from the Stuntman who has never seriously tried to actually build a big rig model...won´t be the last for sure
Petetrucker07 Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Great build. Caroll Joe would be all over this. Well done.
Old Buckaroo Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Only seven grey hairs - that isn't too bad ! What a fabulous build the Ford WT9000 is one of my most favorite trucks. The pictures look super and you did one'heck'of a job for this to be your first semi let alone with a resin conversion. I hope to see you building more trucks.
towman1271 Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 definitely worth the time and grey hairs.. It turned out amazing.. Be proud of this one
flat-top Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Awesome build, one fine looking Blue Mule.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Awesome build!! Great job on the decals! I couldn't help but notice that the front wheels don't have the AMT ring around the lugs, did you correct the front wheels or did you purchase them form some other source?
GLMFAA1 Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Very nice build, May add the 8th gray hair: did you miss the wipers?greg
1959scudetto Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Very nice build, May add the 8th gray hair: did you miss the wipers?gregWhen going over the ramp and crushing the big glass sign, Carroll Jo doesn't need any wipers... (but a bullet-proof cab would be helpful!)Very nice model, perfect execution - great Coe truck!!!
Stuntman Mike Posted November 29, 2015 Author Posted November 29, 2015 Thanks guys. As you´ve noticed a few small pieces are still missing. Wipers, door handles and the rear mud guards for example. These parts will be added by the new owner of the model after shipping.@Old Buckaroo: I already have the Cali Hauler in my stash to modify it into the Duel truck. A massive International Payhauler 350 and the good old Caterpillar are waiting to be built aswell. And I´d love to get my hands on a Mack R700.@DRIPTROIT 71: The front and rear wheels are machined aluminum parts. I forgot the source, though.
angelo7 Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 All that great effort and great job and you won't keep it? I'll double the offer. Great looking rig. I saw this movie when I was a kid.
ZIL 111V Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Beautiful! Paint job/Decals + those rims/tanks look stunning! Also reminds me of the movie I saw as a kid too, at the local Drive-In, 40 years ago!
