Craig Irwin Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 We could only hope that some of the 70's Pro-Stock kits are still around, I'd especially like a Vega without the late Monza type front end.

ChrisBcritter Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Snake....last I heard, there is one mold (or enough of it left to make a kit reissue possible) that is actually in Round 2's tentative 2016 release plan. It's a kit that was only ever released once and then was only in production for less than a year. It's one we've heard that was retooled to a much different product, or. alternatively, permanently scrapped.MPC '32 Chevy panel truck? I hope I hope I hope...
Casey Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 (edited) The MPC '74-75 Vega Pro Stock is coming, was announced a while back. Maybe Mike can confirm/refute or comment, but I wonder if this is the same kit as the Vega Twister (aka Monza S) kit Stevens reissued a few years ago with the nose (and likely some other parts) backdated? The MPC Mustang II Pro Stock was reissued as the Firefighter not too long ago, too: Edited December 26, 2015 by Casey
Can-Con Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 MPC '32 Chevy panel truck? I hope I hope I hope..."Barnabus vampire van". It would need a new body
ChrisBcritter Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Craftsman:1960 Lincoln Continental hardtop (has separate roof and IIRC convertible cover included)That was a '59; I had one as a kid but I don't remember if there was a top boot in it. Funny they didn't modify the '59 tooling to make the '60.

gtx6970 Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 (edited) I would be pleasantly surprised to see anything that hasn't been issued anytime/sometime in the past 20+ years Edited December 27, 2015 by gtx6970
Snake45 Posted December 27, 2015 Author Posted December 27, 2015 I would be pleasantly surprised to see anything that hasn't been issued anytime/sometime in the past 20+ yearsMe too, as I WAS pleasantly surprised at the Manx/TeeVee, Malco Gasser, and Piranha. Maybe there's more available. (Which is why I started this thread.)
vairnut Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 When I was visiting a friend last October, he just had in a load of vintage kits, to put on ebay, IIRC none of them were of '58 vintage but many were from the 60s and a few from the early 70s.When checking them out, I found that the nostalgia factor, you find on boards and FB groups somewhat make (some of) those kits better, then they realy were/are..like the first gen Corvair, which I found a bit crude. They're neat time capsules but they do have their faults, cuz back then they were mass produced toys.Actually the early Corvairs are very accurate - the 1961 2dr kit is the only bad one. 1960 and 1962-64 have no issues other than being curbside. The Astro 1 was an experimental Corvair not Corvette with a DOHC Corvair motor. The body was modified to make the Scorpion funny car

Craig Irwin Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 The XR-6 half of the '27 T Turing double kit? Or the MPC "King T " ? I wonder.....
Carmak Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 The 66 Thunderbird HT promo tool existed up to the 90's when the tooling was in Iowa. It was sampled in white ABS and I have a copy (un-plated chrome and all). Since the 66 Thunderbird convertible / glue on Landau is very common this is not that exciting, but hopefully a little interesting.
High octane Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 That was a '59; I had one as a kid but I don't remember if there was a top boot in it. Funny they didn't modify the '59 tooling to make the '60. The AMT '59 Imperial could be made into a hardtop or convertible, however both the '59 and '60 Lincoln Continentals were either the hardtop kit or the convertible, not both. The convertible kits had "parade" boots as I have them both.
monza77 Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 AMT made a series of 4,1/24 static CanAm cars, probably based on their slot cars. I can't remember the types and can't find them in the old Car Model and Model Car Science magazines where I know I've seen them before. Sure would be nice to have them back but I think they are most likely gone. A return of the 1/20 scale Mclaren and the STP turbine would be welcome .
Phirewriter Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 The AMT Can Am kits were issued as slot car RTR, kits and static shelf kits. The series consisted of a Lola T-70, the Hussien (426 hemi powered and similar in shape to the T-70) a Chaparral and a McLaren Elva. It's possible they might be able to be reissued, they even made it on to a voting list Ertl put out 20? years ago when they started their reissue series. The only problem is that late in the production cycle the slot car chassis AMT was using went through a evolutionary change and large slots were put in the body sides to accommodate the new body mounting system. The McLaren 8D has been reissued a number of times and was a permanent tooling change to the high wing 8B.

The '59 Imperials (issued originally by SMP) were also issued as hardtop and convertible kits; only the Model King reissues include parts for both. The SMP '59 Impalas were similar: hardtop and convertible kits, both using the convertible body.

And, only slightly off-topic, wouldn't it be great if the molds for the Cox Cheetah body could be found? I recently ran across an article in an old Rod & Custom where they built this up as a full-detail kit and it turned out VERY nice.
Mark Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Cox issued the Cheetah as a curbside kit also (no engine, but complete with wheels and tires). I've got a cleanly assembled one; bought it with the intention of rebuilding with more detail, but will probably keep it as-is.
Dave Van Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 (edited) ANY of the 1/24-25 slot car 'bodies' as curbside reissues would be welcome to me.......Maybe a REALLY cool box art with two cars in each box. Feel free to use that idea John!!!! I have the Cox Cheetah and Chaparral curbside kits.....I should say HAD a Cheetah.....it was in it's box....when I opened it one day and the body was in about 10 pieces....it had become super brittle and exploded!!! Even now it almost crumbles. A reissue would be good....but doubt molds are out there....and Modelhaus is nicer any way! Edited December 27, 2015 by Dave Van

charlie8575 Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Moebius could consider to continue the Letter Series they already started with new tooling. They gave us the "A" and B, the C we have from AMT.D and E can wait for later (or some resin casters could be doing them using the AMT as a base kit), so the next big hit would be the F and G.This would also yield a proper full size unibody chassis for the first time in kit history. I'd need at least a casepack for kitbashing with old Jo-Hans.^ This. I would seriously be in for at least 8-10 of these. Charlie Larkin
