1.) Monza is most likely still around (would like to see factory-stock parts returned !)

2 & 3.) That tooling was retooled for the 1987 Annual

4.) That EXP would be cool !

5.) Defintely ! Again , stock parts would be great , too .

You sure about 2 and 3? They were available at the same time, so maybe one of them was retooled?

The Monza kit with ALL the stuff....stock, drag and custom IMSA stuff would be a good 3 in 1........some cool retro box art.....I can see it!!

The Dodge Daytona would be nice to see again. Could build a nice pro street with it (and the EXP)

MPC did a Silverado, Possibly same as the AMT.

The Daytona was reissued in the last 10-15 years, in it's final version ('92 ish?)...  the '88 MPC Silverado became an AMT in '89, last version released was the early 90s 454SS IIRC...

2 is the '83 anniv. edition, 3 is the '82.   After the '84 kit, they were retooled into the SVO then later the '87/88 GT.

How about these gems from the early 80's ; the MPC 1/16 scale Action Snaps line of c.1978 Chevy Pickups .

I was checking one of these out on eBay yesterday. Nice.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, But didn't amt use a loaned kit of the mack cabover to make a new mold for the kit's reissue? If they could do that then maybe the 60 El Camino/Nomad would be reissued? Plus many kit's such as The 4070 A, Transtar 4270, and more. There are unbuilts out there that they could aquire to redo molds for new reissues.

Any kit in whole or part can be cloned.  I loaned my Dragon Wagon to Revell for that reissue.  It boils down to weather the profit is there.

Truck kits sell well and have a little better margin because of the MSRP.  1960 El Camino??? Not sure enough demand with the 59 still out there.

The technology is available to do 3-D scans of sprue trees from unbuilt kits and cut molds for them. Think of all the possibilities for resurrecting long unavailable AMT classics like the '60 Pickup, for instance. Don't know if R2 would invest in the necessary equipment, though. If R2 did, scans could be made of the kits and kept on file for future consideration.

IMO, this is one of MPC's really underrated kits that they did! I have one, and it's PACKED full of details! VERY detailed inline six, detailed suspension, and the body shape is dead on accurate for this Gen Supra. My only complaint is the very heavy tint they used for the glass and the fog light lenses. No doubt if this kit were reissued, it would get more "conventional" glass.

MPC had a talented staff back in that 1970s-80s era and many of the kits mentioned here are nicely done and assemble well.  That would include the Supra, Subaru Brat, Capri, Ford EXP, Daytona and my favorite, the Chevy Cavalier.   The problem with reissuing them is that there is a limited audience today. The 1:1s were ho-hum cars back then and many of them existed because the auto manufacturer ordered a promo.  When the Daytona was reissued, it became a familiar door prize at model shows.  Dealers couldn't sell them so they gave them to shows to raffle off! The Cavaliers have never been reissued but you still see them at shows for $10 or less.  In fact when I built my Cavalier security car, people walked up to me at shows and gave me theirs!

Same with the big boats of the late 60s-70s.  I know that Model King sold those 1970 Buicks and 1971 T-Birds slowly.  Would a repop of the last Continental sell today?  Will the upcoming Volare kit sell?  We'll see!     Note that I always am cautious with my assessments, but am happy to be proven wrong!

Except that the Subaru BRAT was produced by AMT, not MPC.

I agree with you guys on the MPC Supra.  It was an outstanding kit, surely among the best of its era.

Here's a link to 17 recent photos of a model I did in the early 1980's for another magazine that cleaned up all the Supra's overdone "gingerbread" styling cues, exposing the outstanding "bones" of the car and at the same time, showcasing the excellence of the MPC kit.  MPC Supra kitbash

Thanks to everybody for the additional info about the AMT CanAm cars. Another kit I'd like to see  return is the MPC Toyota 2000 GT. It should have international interest. Does anyone know what happened to these molds?

No idea, I guess I wasn't paying attention to large scale back then...there is a yellow firetruck version on eBay, and googling turned up a blue w/ yellow dump truck version.

This was released. I actually saw  on Worthpoint, pretty much an eBay redirector. This kit was released. This particular kit was sold in 2010:
