gasman Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 would be awesome too see some never before done in scale Jeeps to build 1963 Wagoneer or how about a long overdue Cherokee
JTalmage Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 I'd totally buy that 63 Wagoneer kit.. it's such an odd looking vehicle!
Joe Handley Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 The Wagoneer would be great, they didn't change much in nearly 30 years of production, so you could get a '62 and an '89 with minimal modification to the tools! As far as the XJ, you could do a version that would cover '87-'96 and another to cover '97-'01, I don't think they changed much in a modeled way for either "generation".
Harry P. Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 I agree that '63 Wagoneer would make for a cool kit. Add a nice set of realistic woodgrain decals for the sides, and I think you'd have a winner of a kit. I can picture one painted a medium blue, white roof, and the woodgrain sides.
Dann Tier Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 would be awesome too see some never before done in scale Jeeps to build 1963 Wagoneer or how about a long overdue Cherokee I agree!! Im a Cherokee owner, had a few of them. they are bullet proof!! was hit by a 2000 mustang blowing thru a red light at 70 mph, hit the front end of my Cherokee, rolled me two and a half times but landed upright! it kept me safe. I instantly walked out of it with only a walking concussion. sorry bout that -memories. awesome vehicles! we need a kit of it, or i'll have to scratchbuild it.
mikemodeler Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 I would be in for this as well, but I think they would do better financially if they were to do Dodge pickups or Chevy pickups, to continue the path they started with the 67-72 Fords.

bismarck Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 (edited) Yep!! Count me in on either one!!! I had a 96 Jeep Cherokee. all jacked up with mudders. Edited January 6, 2016 by bismarck
hgbben Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I'm in for more than one of each. Both are fantastic subjects.
Joe Handley Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 (edited) I would be in for this as well, but I think they would do better financially if they were to do Dodge pickups or Chevy pickups, to continue the path they started with the 67-72 Fords.I doubt it, there is a huge pool of former and current XJ owners that would likely buy at least one kit, they were used as everything from station wagons to first responder vehicles, railroads and forest service used them, then have been modified into everything from nearly no buck road and autocross racers to hard core trail rigs, so there is a massive amount of build subjects that can be done from a kit of them. Another advantage the XJ has is that it's been produced in one form or another since almost new under license of AMC, Chrysler, and at least for a while, Daimler-Chrysler, so they actually have something in China that can be measured to go along with measurements sent from US based researchers, which should help development time with the already seemingly pretty good crew Mobeus has working with them. Proline Racing has made a 1/10 scale lexan body since 2010, if a body, tire, or any of the accessories don't sell that well, they tend to pull it from the market fairly quick, usually within a couple years for ok to decent selling products, yet their '92 XJ has been on the market for 6 years as of this upcoming spring/summer! charlie8575 Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I'd be in for one or two of each. I'm actually toying with grabbing a Cherokee if I can scare one up someplace for reasonable money. Charlie Larkin
Joe Handley Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I have to laugh about this, there is an ex-Jeep dealer that has managed to keep things going with used Jeeps and Jeep service that as of today has a Sesame Street lineup of XJ's going on their front line the last several weeks with anywhere from 2-4 XJ Cherokees and a clean looking 90's Jag XJ Convertible
Kris Morgan Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 The 63 Wagoneer would be a great choice. You could get a lot of millage out of the majority of the tooling. Later model Wagoneers, Cherokees, J-20 pick ups.
Joe Handley Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Yeah, the stock options alone are phenominal on both with what can be done with minor tooling and decal changes. Then there's what we as hobbiest can do with them once the kits are in our hands!
Olskoolrodder Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 would be awesome too see some never before done in scale Jeeps to build 1963 Wagoneer or how about a long overdue Cherokee As a former owner of a few XJ's,I'd LOVE to be able to build one
lordairgtar Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Just think of the engine options in the Jeep Wagoneer...Tornado (Willys) single overhead cam inline 6, Buick V8, AMC inline 6, AMC V8 327, 360, 401,
sjordan2 Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 (edited) 1950 Jeepster. Edited January 9, 2016 by sjordan2
lordairgtar Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 1950 Jeepster.I think those were done by MPC. They were also retooled into later versions.
Fat Brian Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!Seriously, I'd be down for several of these.
lysleder Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Say, wouldn't it be better to convince Tamiya to reissue their Cherokee than to convince Moebius to cut new tooling? And also, Revell's Jeep Honcho seems to have a lot in common with the Wagoneer. Maybe we just need THEM to tool up a long roof and a new interior bucket.I'm not out to rain on anybody's parade, and I like Moebius's kits as much as anybody else, but it seems to me that they are more willing to venture where nobody has been before. In that light I think we are more likely to see a bullet-nose Studebaker or '57 Oldsmobile than these Jeeps from that end..
Joe Handley Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Tamiya never offered a Cherokee, only the early ZJ Grand Cherokee, and it wasn't that great of a kit.
sjordan2 Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 (edited) I think those were done by MPC. They were also retooled into later versions. I haven't seen a kit earlier than 1960. Whole different vibe. There was something from way, way back by a company called Ace, but we're talking about the need for a new, quality kit here. Edited January 9, 2016 by sjordan2
gtx6970 Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Wasnt it Lindberg that did a Grand Cherokee ? I remember seeing hundreds of them on discounts / closeout tables years ago
