realgone58 Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Just restored this one from a builtup. Missing one spare tire and the separate side window frames are warped, but all in all it was salvageable. Not too often do you see one of these builtup. I am happy to have the box as well. Now to find the Jordan and the Bugatti.
GTJUNIOR Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Beautiful restoration of an unusual and fascinating subject. Well done.
Modelbuilder Mark Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 (edited) Very interesting project! Funky spare wheel placement, but those wheels on the car look like actual spokes, in some pictures it looks like you can sees through the spokes. Are they? Edited April 24, 2016 by Modelbuilder Mark
68shortfleet Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Hmmm, I have that kit. Was considering letting it go at the next local swap meet. After seeing these pics, I might have to build it.
Hubert Rollins Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Great job on the save- but man, that is one ugly car. Were these real or is this a kind of concept deal?
Richard Bartrop Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Great job on the save- but man, that is one ugly car. Were these real or is this a kind of concept deal? They originally started out as a series of illustrations done by Exner for Esquire Magazine, though two of them, a Bugatti and a Mercer, were made into full sized cars.
realgone58 Posted April 25, 2016 Author Posted April 25, 2016 Very interesting project! Funky spare wheel placement, but those wheels on the car look like actual spokes, in some pictures it looks like you can sees through the spokes. Are they?Yes, they are actual spokes.
realgone58 Posted April 25, 2016 Author Posted April 25, 2016 Does the hood open? Is there an engine?Yes, but very vague detail, generic engine. I built it as a curbside for this reason.
CometMan Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Excellent work on a very unusual subject, Alan! Exner sure had some "interesting" design ideas!
bbowser Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 The model is very well done, but that is one ugly design IMHO.
unclescott58 Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Very nice. I like it. I love those Renwal Revival series models. I wish they'd come back some day.
HotRodaSaurus Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Only the second revival I have seen built up, looks great. The profile looks vaguely like an E Type coupe(XKE), the sort of thing customisers had a go at in the 70s
jjsipes Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 (edited) Very unique piece. Love it. I've the Exner Duesenberg somewhere in my pile. For those that are interested, here is a webpage that has some info about all the Exner Deisgn Cars.http://www.drivehq.com/file/df.aspx/publish/tonhazelaar/wwwhome/kits-renwal.html Edited May 5, 2016 by jjsipes
