Luc Janssens Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 The '49 Ford coupe looks like the box Side drawing of a drag car named gas man, is upgraded to box top art.wish i coul link the pic, but dunno how to do it from an i pad.
pack rat Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 Hmm... The El Camino with soap box derby car, looks like a modified re-creation of the original '69 kit, with the new tool '68 and I'm guessing discovered soap box derby car inserts.Exactly right. The original derby car that was recently found combined with the new-tool Elcamino

Here's the Gas Man, from the '60's-era 49er box. I don't know what the box will look like or the contents will be, but I know they have an original 49er kit on loan. Note that the 49er had unique custom wheels that they would have to re-tool if they were to bring it back.
unclescott58 Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 The Pacer will be buildable stock, it has the 6 cylinder engine, and the box art shown in Gerry's post above is the one they're using Good news. That's what I'm hoping for.
Don Sikora II Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 Exactly right. The original derby car that was recently found combined with the new-tool Elcamino Cool. Wondered if the derby car tool might have survived. I've never had the kit but finally found an empty, and unfortunately ratty, box in the last couple years.

I've never had the kit but finally found an empty, and unfortunately ratty, box in the last couple years. I wish I had my box....got the kit when I was a kid and tossed the box; fortunately I saved the rest. In case anyone is wondering...here's the derby car. This one wears poor-quality copies of the original decals.
gtx6970 Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 1/25 1959 Century Coronado Boat Hmmmm... Lovely! now that would be wayyyyy up my want list
gtx6970 Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 LINDBERG - LND-222 - 1/25 Owens Outboard Cruiser Boat - $29.99 Anyone know anything about this one, style , length etc
Craig Irwin Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Anyone know how stock the Nascar 72 Ford Torino body is?
Fat Brian Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Anyone know how stock the Nascar 72 Ford Torino body is?If I remember correctly it has stock wood grain trim on the body sides but strips over the rear window opening and the fuel door cut open for a quick fill cap. The door handles are gone with oval filler panels in their place, I think the grill and rear bumper are equally NASCARized. The Starsky & Hutch car would get you a stock interior and correct chassis and the guys at Motor City Resins might hook you up with a stock grill.
Edsel-Dan Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 The Century Coronado Looks like the boat I have had for MANY Years!! Molded in White & Red, with Chrome too. I do recall my kit had Roof/Cabin Options!Sliding top, No top, Long, Medium, etc I am interested in the Owens too!! The MPC Torino MIGHT be usable, but...You will have to Add Door handles, Side markers, tail lights, Headlights,Script, trim etcIt IS Stock in shape, and size,, but Shaved so to speak! Oh, And grill will need to be correctedIt has the generic Race Screen and Not a Factory grill (I Believe) I can Try to get mine and take some picsI
unclescott58 Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Okay. Where did the anoucment of the soap box derby car come from? I didn't see that on any of the lists? I hope it's true. I'd really like one.The Lindberg 1/25th scale boats really interest me. Are these things any good? The idea is cool. But, some of Lindbergs older kits can leave a little something to be desired.Speaking of Lindberg. I wish Round 2 would bring back the old Mini-Lindy kits from the late 60's, early 70's.
unclescott58 Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 I may have some bad news! Doing a little searching on web, the Lindberg boats Round 2 has announced they are reissuing, look like they were originally tooled up by Palmer! If they are anything like Palmer's car kits, I'll be staying as far away from them as I can.Its a shame I like concept of these kits. The box art looks like they were pretty cool boats. But, Palmer kit box art was never the problem. It's what's inside that could be the problem. I want to see a review, with photographs, before I buy either of the two announced Lindberg boat kits.
Edsel-Dan Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Here is the Boat I have that I believe is the Coronado2 Pictures.http://s145.photobucket.com/user/EdselDan/library/Models/Projects/Boat?sort=3&page=1 There IS an Engine under the hatch, though lacking in detailand the hatch must be modified to open!!!!(I am ATTEMPTING THAT)
russosborne Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Man, there are a lot of kits I really want on that list. But the prices are creeping pretty high for me. Without a job I might be able to get one, would most likely be the Flying Wedge dragster. Otherwise I will be hoping that Hobby Lobby gets the others sooner or later.Being poor sucks.Russ
Edsel-Dan Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Try adding having to pay off $500.oo that went into your family account by mistake!!My sister gets $900.oo/Month, and 300.oo of that will go topayments!!I am Unemployed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!So..................Now you understand the bigger part of Liquidating my collections!!!!
Luc Janssens Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 1/25 1959 Century Coronado Boat Hmmmm... Lovely! Indeed, I asume it comes without a trailer?
Junkman Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 This is the old Palmer kit, interestingly labelled as a '1960'. This is what the Owens box looked like:
Foxer Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 I wish I had my box....got the kit when I was a kid and tossed the box; fortunately I saved the rest. In case anyone is wondering...here's the derby car. This one wears poor-quality copies of the original decals. Hmmm .. I knew a girl from Muncie, when I was in college in Angola, that .. errr.. that's another thread I think ... Would be cool if that did put that in a box again!
ChrisBcritter Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 I remember seeing the Coronado on another thread; and my response was basically or words to that effect. The Owens is new to me; looks like something you could tow behind your AMT '60 Starliner, while the Coronado would look so fine behind a '59 Imperial. Just need trailers...
mikemodeler Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 The Pacer will be buildable stock, it has the 6 cylinder engine, and the box art shown in Gerry's post above is the one they're using Gonna be picking up a couple of these for the engine only, will be trading the rest of the kit off once I pirate the engine.
Junkman Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 (edited) Trailers are readily available. Make it a tandem axle, those boats are heavy. Edited July 11, 2016 by Junkman
unclescott58 Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 This is the old Palmer kit, interestingly labelled as a '1960'. The above is one of two Palmer boxes you'll find on line. The other box, which you can see the box art in earlier posts, does claim the model to be a 1959.
tim boyd Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Hmm... The El Camino with soap box derby car, looks like a modified re-creation of the original '69 kit, with the new tool '68 and I'm guessing discovered soap box derby car inserts. That's the plan as I understand it, although I do not recall whether the Derby car was a rediscovery of the original tool or a recreation. Box art will be different enough to make sure that collectors do not mistake this issue as an original. If you've never seen the AMT-Ertl '68 Camino, it's one of the nicest kits from the mid-late 1990's John Mueller / Dyersburg AMT Ertl era The street machine version even had such cool features as a slightly tubbed pickup box floor and a highly accurate replica of an early aftermarket (B&M?) supercharger setup. Should be an excellent kit.....TIM
