spencer1984 Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 (edited) Based on the AMT Ecto-1A kit, converted to its first appearance in the '84 movie. It has a Monogram grille/bumper, Modelhaus rear bumper, parts box wheels/tires and mirrors, stripped interior, and custom glass. Decals & license plates were drawn up in Illustrator. Since cars like this are often used as dumps by their owners, I loaded the back with miscellaneous debris (including a few Easter eggs from then-current movies). As always, any comments/questions/criticisms are welcome. Edited August 18, 2016 by spencer1984 2
CometMan Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Very cool, Bill! If you blinked twice, you would have missed the scenes showing it like that!
slusher Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 I really like this build. Great job and idea...
spencer1984 Posted August 18, 2016 Author Posted August 18, 2016 Thanks, guys!If you blinked twice, you would have missed the scenes showing it like that!True, but it they included one of the funniest ("Needs some suspension work and shocks. Brakes, brake pads, lining, steering box, transmission, rear end...")
bbowser Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Very cool! I like this version better than the final.
Ridge Rider Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Very cool. Is that a flux capacitor in the second to last pic? Time traveling ghostbusters
JTalmage Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Great looking build! Love the Dinki Di can in there too
spencer1984 Posted August 19, 2016 Author Posted August 19, 2016 Thanks! Yup, Back to the Future and Mad Max are both among the debris in there! I also included some bits from Luke's landspeeder in Star Wars.
Yahshu Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Cool, didn't know Mad Max was involved with the ghostbusters though, wrong country, wrong time frame, Lol. Very nice model
Mike C Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Looks good and a great idea to build it that way.
Mr. Metallic Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Glad to see someone do this version. I always thought it was kind of cool. And the extra details you added really make it even better
Agent G Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Hey you can't park that thing here.Good job sir!G
Robberbaron Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Awesome build! I wore out our VHS copy of Ghostbusters back in the '80s from watching it constantly. I always thought this original version of Ecto 1 looked cool when it first appears in the movie. From everything I remember, you nailed it, down to that one green light on the roof!Think I might pop that DVD in tonight for a little nostalgia!
Hubert Rollins Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 That sure is cool. You sure do nice work!!
spencer1984 Posted August 21, 2016 Author Posted August 21, 2016 (edited) Thanks, guys! Just one more to go and I'll have a full set of the classic Ectomobiles (pre-, GB1, cartoon, GB2, game, and XGB) Edited August 21, 2016 by spencer1984
KWT Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Your builds never cease to amaze me... Awesome job!
Chuck Most Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 Everybody can relax, Bill found the car. Needs some suspension work and shocks. Brakes, brake pads, lining, steering box, transmission, rear-end... Only $4800. Also new rings, mufflers, a little wiring.
