CarlR Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 (edited) This model is my attempt to save an incomplete started kit I had purchased from a vendor on Ebay. I started by filling in the spare tire wells on the front fenders and moving the spare to the rear. The spotlights from the front windscreen were re-purposed as brake lights. The molding on the edges of the fenders was removed as was the ribbing on the forward portions of the rear fenders. The model is curbside because the previous owner had botched the engine assembly with over-generous applications of tube cement. The finished model is sort of a poorer cousin to the box stock model but I think I almost prefer the understated look of it to the kit's "flaunt it if you got it" version. wayne swayze Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 Looks great! I like the re purposed taillights. Good call on the red!
landman Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 You're right, it has that subdued yet classy look. Great save.
bbowser Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 That is really nice! I like the move of the spare to the back, that couldn't have been easy, custom coachwork was the name of the game back then. Great model.
charlie8575 Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 Usually, I'd question all-red on a capital-C Classic like that, but it works well on this.Charlie Larkin

Nacho Z Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 That is a great looking model, Carl. Nice job and nice save!
Joe Handley Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 Very nice, has a bit of a "Mild Custom" look look to it!
aussie_modler Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 Wow, simply stunning. There is something about this era of car that can not be reproduced. Nice save.
John Clutch Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 Its gorgeous. Relocating the spare tire really smoothed out the shape of the car.
Mike C Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 You sure did a nice job on it. I've always liked those Duesy's.
Eric Macleod Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 I like it. You have done a great job with this one.
