curt raitz Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Here's what happens when you stick the rear end of a 1968 El Camino to a 1967 Camaro. I read that the "Common Kit" at GSLXXVI was the Revell '67 Camaro SS kit #4936. I decided to build the El Caminaro for the contest. Don't expect it to win anything, but it will help fill the class. I always liked the paint theme for the 1969 Camaro Indy 500 Pace Car, white with orange stripes. So I went that way with a little twist. The white is Tamiya TS-45 Pearl White and orange stripes are homemade decals. Wheels and tires are from the "Wheels/Tires" Parts Box. Here's the mock-up and follow up photos of the El Caminaro. Please excuse the "specks" on the photos, luckily they are on the backdrop and not the camera!
mk11 Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Nice work! Looks like something our Australian friends could relate to... mike
PARTSMARTY Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Originality rules and I love it-thinking out of the box goes a long way Curt !!!
espo Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 I really like that. El Caminos are cool anyway, but with a Camaro mixed in I want one.
Brian_R Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Curt,I like the "gas struts" on the rear cover - are they actually holding the cover up by friction or is there something else?Brian
TooOld Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Nice work! Looks like something our Australian friends could relate to... mike As a lifetime El Camino owner I must say it's not too bad , actually it's pretty nice ! Definitely has that Holden look to it . Great concept and great execution !
DumpyDan Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 I saw the first pic and I was hooked, this looks great may try this myself. Well done!
Modlbldr Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 (edited) I like the idea and how this turned out. Love the paint scheme. My only advice would be to make the front and rear wheel wells match. Looks off without the wheel lips on the rear.Just my $.02. Great work otherwise.Later- Edited January 13, 2017 by Modlbldr
