RestoModGuy Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Wow... More than faithfully reproducing someone elses 50+ year old build. It's a work of art and top level craftsmanship to pull off what and especially how you building what appear an exact tribute to the original who used very different material than we use today. Hats off to you for this build
John Teresi Posted March 11, 2017 Author Posted March 11, 2017 Hello......thank you all so very much for the kind comments......I really do appreciate them.......I read what the article said on this build and it stated that Pete cut 1/4 inch white and green strips of Naugahyde for the bed and tailgate...... while I was mocking up the stripes for the bed......something was wrong ,the strips did not match up in the bed......so I looked carefully at the pictures and 2 of the strips are a 1/16 of an inch wider at one end of the bed than the other strips......so thats what I did and it worked out better......I used white Naugahyde and airbrushed some of it green for the green strips......I got them all glued into the bed with Laski Scale Specialties. Com "Liquid Glass" glue........and attached the bed to the frame......I will add the door handles and headlight lenses tomorrow......and this build should be done......thanks for looking.
DumpyDan Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 What can be said that hasn't already..........AWESOME!
Codi Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 So cool John. I like the way you did the bed too. Thanks for sharing your method and I wanted to ask if this was the first time you used "Liquid Glass"? I'll have to check out Art's offerings and try that myself. Cheers, tim

oldcarfan Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 You are what I call an aspirational builder. Guys like me read your posts and it makes us think, "I want to do what he does". Then we start to build and remember, "Nope, he's got skills I lack." Oh well, as long as we have fun!
Dennis Lacy Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 Out of curiosity, will the wiring for the lights be contained somehow?
