I vote push the altered wheelbase 65 Plymouth to the front of the line

But I thought there is or was supposed to be a Drag version of the Comet in the planning for this kit ?

I'd like to see  one of these myself

With the awesome Ford pick up kits out, I'd sure love to see '67 to 72 Chevy pick up kits done by Mobius to the level of their Ford kits, I sure would! And of course some vintage Dodge trucks after those, after the Chevy ones, please!

Chevy and Dodge trucks would be nice, as would a GMC pickup of those same years, with the unique-to-GMC V6 they had then.

I'm hoping that they'll give some thought to a '56 Desoto.

It would be a short leap from the '56 Chrysler 300 to that & it could be produced as a stock version, racing & a pace car version.

I know how these companies like to maximize their toolings & this would be a perfect opportunity for that.

& lord knows, we could use at least "ONE" Desoto kit!

I like the way you are thinking and it s a good looking car too, but do you know how much they would be able to carry over from the 300? I must admit I do not know all there is to know about these cars. Are all the dirty bits (engine and entire underside) identical between them?

As far as I know, the '56's (Chrysler and DeSoto), were pretty much identical underneath and engine wise. The 300B might have had a bit more horsepower in keeping with Chrysler wanting to keep its "performance car" image, although the Adventurer model was DeSoto's sister to the 300B.

Basically reworked front end, fins, and side trim would be needed, as well as different interior bits and pieces.

A 1956 Chrysler 300 used a 331 Hemi

A 1956 Desoto Adventure used a 341 Hemi

If they're similar in outward appearance I cant say one way or the other.

I'm  not very well versed on the Mopar cars this old, so any other differences I would have to dig into further, ( a good friend of mine has a a 1955 300 and he knows these cars really well )

But my gut feeling is there are enough differences it would be basically be an  all new tool.  And Im ok with that (  I actually would prefer either a 57-59 model years myself )

Or if they really want to float my boat how about a 55 or 56 Imperial. :D

Quick internet search results:

Chrysler 300B - 353 ci, 218.8 in. overall length and 126 in. wheel base

Desoto Adventurer - 341 ci, 220.9 in. overall length and 126 in. wheel base

Not a lot of difference.

First time I saw on of those GMC V6s, I thought I was looking at a 409 with missing plug wires.

Let's put it this way.

For kit purposes, the 300's entire chassis, running gear, engine, engine bay, glass, wheels & tires & probably the interior floor would be easily carried over to a Desoto kit.

The hood would only need a small mod to make the small scoop above the grille.

Other wise, it should just be a new body, front & rear chrome pieces, dash, steering wheel, seats & interior door panels.

I would think that it would be every bit as easy as going from a '72 Ford truck to a '69, or from a '53 Hudson to a '54.

The exact same thing could be done with the '55 300 & a '55 Desoto.

There are also opportunities with just the Chrysler New Yorkers or Windsors from those years.

I'll take an AWB Ply-mouth and an AFX Comet. I would even go for a 56 Desoto. I most want a 49 or 50 Packard convertible though :)

I talked to Dave at NNL East today, and he told me of an hitherto unannounced expansion. He said that after the 4x4 Ford (1970), the next one in line is a 1964-66 one. He mentioned the year, but I have forgotten. The message in this is that although the chassis and running gear is identical to the pickups we know, the body will be the previous style. That is cool, and I didn't see it coming. That is - didn't know the chassis carried over, allowing for expansion of the Moebius range.

Yes, we're getting 65-66 Ford F100 pickup based on the current 67-72 style kit.  Details still not finalized but multiple versions are planned which will include the stepside for the first time.  A 4x4 version of the current kit should be out later this year.  I have a test shot of that sitting right next to me.  More on that 4x4 kit in a separate post soon.

Moebius should consider a stock, drag or nascar version of the 68 Dodge Coronet R/T.

Yeah the chassis that came into being in 1964 was basically unchanged up through 1979, which is why the AMT 4x4 parts can be massaged into the Moebius trucks with relative ease.
