James2 Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 Back in the last days of many short track arena's they were left to their own demise or redevelopment. Along with the loss of the tracks many race cars were also abandoned and forgotten. Often times they were dismantled piece by piece or just left exactly as they were when retired. This one is a tribute to those cars that still remain behind Granddads shed, Service station or in a field somewhere. Like many race cars it stated out as one style, but was re-skinned with an old Chevy body. It has some missing parts, a flat tire, some tools and carb. Lots of rust and debris and a few nests I'm sure. At least the engine was covered! I'm happy to finish this it's been a WIP for to long. As always thanks for looking and your comments are welcome, +/- !
Dragline Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 In the right setting this would be epic. Great job.
bobthehobbyguy Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 Love it. Beautiful work. Really needs a backdrop to go with it. Always like seeing something different from the norm.
James2 Posted April 7, 2017 Author Posted April 7, 2017 Thx guys, one thing I didn't mention. I built this style so I could enter it in "Open Wheel Compition Class" and still tell a story without having to enter in the diorama class. Those military guys are tough!
bbowser Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 A great looking build. Wonderful weathering job!I agree, well done!

iBorg Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 I remember traveling on the backroads of Illinois and saw a lot of sprint cars that looked a lot like this. I have to agree with Bob Frias, "In the right setting this would be epic. Great job."
1930fordpickup Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 Looks like an old Car should look like after years of abuse on the track.
slusher Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Great model of an old race warrior! Wonderfully done..
David G. Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 Nicely done- has a great feel to it. Really needs to be in a diorama.David G.
