Gramps46 Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 These builds were all done from original kits back in the day and I am lucky to still have them today. All were AMT kits I believe. The 1959 Mercury is my earliest surviving model and was originally built with lots of decals but latter brush painted, could not do that again. Thee '32 Ford roadster was inspired by a Hot Rod Magazine feature article I am sure. The '32 Ford coupe was my first attempt at a chopped top. The '32 Ford Highboy has always been a favorite of mine. The 1950 custom coupe is one of my rare customs. Even had an opening driver's door. The Model T rear engine dragster was a bit of a challenge to get into and out of I imagine. The 1940 coupe was a fun project at the time. The T Bucket was based upon a Hot Rod Magazine feature on a car called Tweedy Pie.
disabled modeler Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Gary...Nice stuff..its always good to see the survivors out there. I have a old Mercury just like that one I need to restore...and many others from the past once I can find the parts they will need there from my dads old collection. Id love to see the companies bring some of these old ones back for us all to enjoy.
bbowser Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 What a great collection! I wish I had any of mine from the dawn of time, you are lucky. Thanks for sharing.
Curt Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 These models really take me back, although mine back in the day never looked that good. Thanks for sharing!
Draggon Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Those are clean by today's standards, I imagine they were really outstanding back then. I like your style Gary, the blue Model T dragster is my favorite. I'm glad you shared them with us!
Modelbuilder Mark Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Thanks for the trip into your yesteryear! You have some good looking models and cool survivors there.
jsc Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 I have a stash of "originals" that I pull out from time to time. I did that recently and found a Petty Charger and an original Donnie Allison Mercury that I didn't know I had. All of them need to be restored. If I just had the time....
Gramps46 Posted July 23, 2017 Author Posted July 23, 2017 Thanks to all for joining me on this trip down memory lane. Here are a couple more. A '34 pickup pretty much stock. A Revell 1956 pick up. A scratch built dragster with a hand beaten copper body.
High octane Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 You're so lucky to have your models from "days gone by," as I wish that I still had some of mine.

I don't know if you have Facebook or not but we have a group dedicated to old built models called "Scale Survivors". Your builds would definitely be a hit if you care to share them there. Mr. Metallic Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 The '32 Ford coupe was my first attempt at a chopped top. All of those builds are very cool, but this thing is killer
D. Battista Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 Nice to see old survivors....! And well done ones to boot....!Thanks for sharing....
Ron Hamilton Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 (edited) Very Nice Gary. I would not change a thing on any of them. I would love to preserve those. Edited July 26, 2017 by Ron Hamilton
