slusher Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Really neat idea and VW engine looks great in it!
spencer1984 Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 That's actually pretty neat, and nice clean work on it too!
crazyjim Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 I never would have thought of putting a VW engine in a Cobra. Very imaginative, Ray. Aren't you happy you quit building? LOL
cobraman Posted October 25, 2017 Author Posted October 25, 2017 Thank you guys. I had no idea that someone made "real ones" . That's just not right ! Hey Jim, I quit building every week it seems. I will always build Cobra's. Being retired I find I do need something to do besides doing stuff around the house.
Foxer Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 I was going to say there must be someone that did this in 1:1, so it all looks appropriate to me! :) Thank you guys. Ace-Garageguy Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 What the ??? indeed. There have been Jag, Ferrari, Porsche 917 and MG "replicas" on Bug underpinnings, so why not a Cobra? Here's one of the real bodies made for Bug guts...
cobraman Posted October 25, 2017 Author Posted October 25, 2017 As much as I love Cobra's I could not have one of those.
DustyMojave Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 I love Cobras, and I love VW bugs. But not in the same car... OTOH, they have very close to the same wheelbase...
ChrisBcritter Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 Great little weekend toy for that "midlife crisis on a budget". Now let's see someone do it with the Monogram Bugatti!
ToyLvr Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 And sometimes a V-8 winds up where you don't expect to see one...?
ToyLvr Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Perhaps the Crown conversion ?Kelmark, in this case. Chevy 283 in the back seat?
oldcarfan Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 It looks like one of those cars stuntmen used to build for movies when the real thing was too expensive or hard to come by! Cool!
Chuck Most Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 So sick and twisted... how could I NOT love it?
cobraman Posted November 7, 2017 Author Posted November 7, 2017 Thanks guys. Trying to think up another twisted version.
Alix Bernard Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 Ray, just cause you can doesn't mean you should!!!!!!! Kiddin', its cool. If this isn't the place to think outside of the box we ALL need to start collecting stamps.
lucky 130 Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 I can tell the walls are closing in on you. How about stretching the front end and putting an Allison V12 under the hood? Now that should keep your mind occupied. Oh by the way I thought the VW powered snake was wild and gave me a real chuckle!
