I cannot understand anyone wanting a 67 Cougar model. The kit was done back in the day and could be redone I would imagine. As far as a new tool, why? Insignificant car in real life, didn't sell well and was just another Mercury attempt at a muscle car.

I have to say, I owned a 67 Cougar GT, 390, 4, speed car. it would burn rubber and make noise and was generally fun to drive. I would never want a model of that car or any other 67 or later Cougar. I only bought mine, In 1968 because it was cheap compared to a Mustang with the same equipment. I was in the army at the time and had limited funds.

I don't get why anyone would want a Chevy II, but obviously, people have different opinions on that.

A decent '67 Cougar?  Yes please!

Insignificant to you maybe. But, there a lot of us out there who still like the car. It only been released in kit form one time. Back in 1967. The dies were then updated to a '68. And where to from there, who knows? I'd love to get my hands on a '67 Cougar GT model kit. I like Motor Trends Car of the Year for 1967. The Cougar. It didn't seem insignificant to them at the time.

I picked this up a couple years ago at a swap meet. I would love to see a new 1967 Cougar produced by Moebius. I believe it would be a good seller. My Aunt and Uncle bought a 1967 Cougar new. 289 3 speed manual. I was 10 years old and I thought it was the coolest car on earth ?.

Let's see how good of a hypnotist I am? Dennis. Listen closely. Your getting very sleepy ?. Sleepy. Are you asleep? Good. Now listen up. You hate Mercury Cougars. Especially 1967 Cougars. In fact you hate them so much, you need to get rid of the above model kit. And send it to your new best friend. The person you worship. Scott Aho. Old Uncle Scott. He'll take that horrible Cougar off your hands. Repeat after me. Send AMT '67 Cougar kit to Scott. Send AMT '67 Cougar kit to Scott. Just keep repeating that, and soon you'll feel better. Much better.........

O'boy, I hope that works! At the same time, I will not be holding my breathe waiting for Dennis to follow through. I don't why? I am a great hypnotist, and all around great guy!

I love the '67-68 Cougars (folks had 3 of them when I was growing up).   I have 2 each of the AMT '67 and '68 annuals along w/ a Modelhaus resin, but would love to see a new tool one..esp. w/ variations like a Trans Am series race car and a '68 GT-E, '68 XR-7G, etc...

Speaking of Cougar kits, I wonder what ever happened to the MPC '70 tooling..never reissued AFAIK..

Scott it’s 630 miles from Minneapolis to Kennard, Indiana. Maybe you’re hypnotic powers don’t reach quite that far ??. Keep trying!!

Funny thing is, most of the 67-8 chassis is still in use under 69's. I've used them for various bits in builders.

So, R2 could conceivably retool a 67 body, use decals for side markers for 68, perhaps decals for upholstery, and boom. Original kit was great. No need for new tool, just enough to give R2 options for 67-69, maybe 70, and a Terlingua car on top.

The chassis under the 73 Cougar IIRC is left from the 70. If body of CV, never reissued, is in a hanger shot, again, boom.

I'd even ignore the plate fonts. Still won't buy Nutella, but I'd consider Revella Nutella. :D >:)

We must share a sense of humor. I like your avatar so much that I tracked down what it was (I've never seen Archer), printed out a large copy, and have it posted on my partition at work, where anyone who comes to see me HAS to see it.

Yes we do.

Archer, 8 seasons. often on FXX late

Oh, if only!

The kit would be vastly superior to the real car in every way, even if you just glue-bombed it!

Well I'll take some flak for my 67 Cougar comments, I earned it but that is just the way I see a 67 or any other Cougar for that matter. I have to lump a Chevy II along with that. Although someone is going to waste plastic making  Chevy II kit(s). If you want me to get excited make a 68-69 Mercury Cyclone kit, particularly the Yarbrough and Gurney street versions. Neat cars, not the Spoiler II with the funky nose, just the nice looking "W" nose version.

And I still want a 49-50 Packard, mainly a convertible. Truth is, we all have our wish lists for model kits.  Sometimes we get something we like and often we get something we just have no interest in. The Ford Pickup and Chevy II kits are a serious disappointment to me, although someone will be thrilled with them.

Thank you for the pics on that kit. It is great to see how old AMT kits looked when they where fresh. I have the 66 Falcon in my stash and looking at your pics and my Falcon kit and I'm just blown away at how crisp the details are.
I have seen how much detail is lost over the years in a Revell Mercedes 190SL, I had the issue that came out in 2010 or so (anniversery edition) and I have the original from 1962 (or is it 60?) and the details on the early issue are so much better. Old issues are always better:)

At this point I could do a 10-minute rant about how little I want a 49-50 Packard, especially a convertible, but what would be the point? :lol:

Except when the decals are curled up, yellowed, and too brittle to use...or when a tire has permanently bonded itself to a styrene part...

I do agree for the most part with your sentiment, though, Gaute, and try to buy original or older issues when possible. :)

While I'm looking forward to seeing the Moebius Chevy II in its final form, I can't help but feel Round2 will have either the Rat Packer and Boss Nova kit cued up and ready to reissue a few months before the Moebius Chevy II. Maybe not exactly and apples-to-apples comparison based on the non-stock, well, almost everything in the two AMT kits, but the Rat Packer and Moebius "gasser" are pretty darn close to one another in flavor.
