afx Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 This build has been quite a journey but it's finally finished. The build thread:
Silver Foxx Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 A nice looking build , these old Esci based kits are not easy to work with , well done .
afx Posted April 18, 2018 Author Posted April 18, 2018 (edited) Thanks Bruce - It started as the Esci kit but there is not a single part on the entire model that hasn't been modified or scratch built. Thanks Marcos & Shay. Edited April 19, 2018 by afx
Dann Tier Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 Another Masterpiece!!!!!....love that engine bay!!!!!
alan barton Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 Fantastic job! My brother was heavily involved in rallying in the eighties here in Western Australia and after destroying a few Mk 1s he upgraded to a Mk2. I know these Mk 11s well. Went for a wild ride with him in the bush one night - your body finds it hard to believe the G-forces you can pull on a dirt road. Believe it or not, an Englishman now living in Perth has built a stunning replica of this car. I saw it at a book signing by the guy who was the Ford rally team manager - it was very impressive. Cheers Alan
mustang1989 Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 (edited) I remember when this one was in the building stages JC. This thing looks swell! Real top notch work happenin right there! Edited April 19, 2018 by mustang1989

geetee66 Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 Awesome! The overflow pipe on top of the radiator is even the right colour.!! Fabulous details. I like the brake lines, too. Engine is a model in itself ?
afx Posted April 19, 2018 Author Posted April 19, 2018 (edited) Thanks Guy. The overflow tube is clear tubing colored with an orange Sharpie marker. I scratch built the pulleys, fan, water outlet, carb linkage, oil pump, distributor and motor mounts. The alternator came from my parts box. Edited April 19, 2018 by afx
Dodge Driver Posted April 20, 2018 Posted April 20, 2018 My complements on such a fine model. So many excellent touches and details.
Mr Stock Posted April 22, 2018 Posted April 22, 2018 That's is a beautiful build !. I remember seeing some if the posts you made modifying parts, a lot of patience and skill has gone into this one, looks a 1000 times better than the box stock Esci kit
afx Posted May 12, 2019 Author Posted May 12, 2019 I was fortunate enough to win the Rally Category at NNL Mid-Atlantic on Saturday for my Escort. My first ever model award - very honored.
FabbricaP Posted May 12, 2019 Posted May 12, 2019 (edited) Fantastic build JC. Really enjoyed the WIP. The detailing is excellent, especially like the rear brake n oil lines, very realistic! BTW, what did you make the fan belt out of? Edited May 12, 2019 by FabbricaP
Gramps46 Posted May 12, 2019 Posted May 12, 2019 I saw it in person and can attest to a well deserved win. Congratulations JC.
