Chains often "forget" about the importance of presentation...but if their customers don't care, why should they?

I suppose.

This one looks like they threw the steak onto a dirty plate from the other side of the kitchen! :)

No offense again, but I've never been a fan of Outback.

But everybody has his own thing.

Around here in recent years, the big steak house chain has been Texas Roadhouse.

My son is the kitchen manager of the store in Grand Forks North Dakota and the place is filled to the rafters every night!

Not my favorite restaurant either, but steak houses are surely very popular.

Just to be clear Steve, I think it's disgusting too and I would send that mess straight  back to the kitchen.

(unfortunately I think one has to pay for what they order?)

My mother always kept a can in the pantry for a quick breakfast meat or sandwiches.

Now, that being said, I can sympathize with Robert's situation.

sweet & sour Spam sounds pretty horrid!! :P

Sure, good idea.  And the next dish will look more presentable but will have some "special sauce" or another surprise in or under it (if you know what I mean).  I do not like to be nasty to the waiters or cooks in restaurant until *AFTER* I finish my meal.  Call me overly cautious . . .

Tonight it was good old fashioned pot roast.

Nothing better on a cool fall night!

The meat was a little dry, but it was delicious just the same. :)

Yeah, the meat looks dry. I bought a pressure pot a few years ago. Works great for meat. Nice and tender in 45 minutes. Take the already tender meat and put in with your veggies/potatoes and cook until the veggies are done. Meat comes out like it has been slow cooked for hours, and the veggies aren't over cooked.

Marcia bought an InstantPot last year.  Pot roast is delicious!  So is corn on the cob, hard boiled eggs, and everything we use it for.

Wonder if you could use it to straighten a warped acetate promo?  :P

I have been a little bit behind in posting in this thread. Friends came over last Saturday. Ribeye steaks on the Weber, rock lobster tails under the broiler, baked potatoes, green beans. My apologies for the two glasses of chardonnay on the table and the A1 for the guest who likes medium well meat.

Tonight's dinner. Hung out with old (er) folks at the Cracker Barrel that recently opened. Even the old people said the food was bland. At least it was cheap. Mashed potatoes were ok, and the chicken fried chicken wasn't horrible.

Goulash is great the second, third and fourth time around too. :)

Next time, add some diced potatoes, chick peas and plenty o' curry powder into the leftover goulash. Get some square bread, fill the center with the goulash and you have yourself a beef roti

Most excellent, I tell you. :D

You can do the same with stewed chicken, fish and yes........goat meat. All taste good. Calypso sauce optional.

I haven't posted here in a while, but I have taken a few photos.

"Pear & Blue Cheese Pizzas".

A little too "foo foo" for my taste, but I will admit, it wasn't bad.

Pears, mozzarella & blue cheese, caramelized onions and smoked almonds.

"Rigatoni with Tomato Cream".

This one looks a little bland, but it was really rich!

Rigatoni, mushrooms, garlic and red bell pepper in a cream sauce made basically from tomato paste, cream & vegetable base.

Croutons are ciabatta bread cubed & toasted with Parmesan and mozzarella cheese.

Tonight I made "Oven BBQ Beef Sandwiches" & "3 Cheese Twice Baked Potatoes".

These are the type of "oven meals" that will become much more common in our house now that the cold weather is setting in.
