'70 Grande Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 (edited) This is my first completed build post here on this forum, even tho I've been a member here for several years. This build is the 1/25 AMT 1968 Chevrolet Camaro kit, (issued several years ago and molded in Orange), with some minor modifications that I made that may or may not be correct for a 1:1, but were done as I would prefer the car to be. The paint is Chevrolet's 1968 Verdoro Green Metallic with Bare-Metal Foil trim and paint-detailed emblems. I painted and flocked the interior in Black and added scratchbuilt seat belts and some after market speakers to the rear package shelf. The Rally wheels were sourced from the AMT '67 Impala kit as I liked that they are slightly deep-dished. I added several details to the engine and engine compartment, once again as I would prefer the car to be. Comments and/or criticisms are welcome. Edited June 30, 2018 by '70 Grande
Dragonhawk1066 Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Nice job! Great choice of color, the green looks really good on that car. Nice work on the engine detailing also. Very nice clean build.
dragmodels44 Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Really nice detailing and clean build on a great musclecar
shoopdog Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Great detailing all around, nice touch with the inspection sticker on the windshield.
Snake45 Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Chevy didn't offer Verdoro Green in '68 (or ever, for that matter); it was a Pontiac color. Their green in '68 was called Sequoia Green IIRC and it was much darker. But they SHOULD have, as your model looks great wearing it. Very clean build, very nicely done. Model on!
Deuces Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Very nice build..... I think they changed the name of that color in '69 too Fathom green metallic.....
Rat Roaster Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 IIRC you could get a 1968 Camaro in British (Racing) Green but yours look closer to 1968 Camaro Rallye Green. Nice job!
moparfarmer Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 Nice build and clean. You said criticizm..Yellow wires and bright orange heater hoses..

You're right--BRG, Corvette Bronze and Rally Green were mid-year additions to the Camaro color chart.

'70 Grande Posted July 1, 2018 Author Posted July 1, 2018 Appreciate all of your compliments on my Z28 build! I was always a little too timid to post my own builds here, based on the quality of the work that I see here everyday, and your positive messages have really made my day! Guess I won't feel quite so timid any longer. I have one criticism for this build myself, (and it goes along somewhat with Wayne's comment). Overall, I think the engine compartment is just too clean-looking. I never intended for this build to look quite like a 1:1 trailer-queen, and it sorta has that feel to it inside the engine compartment. Hence, I have changed my approach on all of my current builds; now I throw some grime underneath the hood to make my builds look more like everyday-drivers! Thanks again for the nice compliments!
donb Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 A fine looking Camaro. Love that year and like the way you built your car.
espo Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 At first glance I thought this was the Revell Camaro until you mention it being from AMT. You should build it the way you like and it turned out great. As for the color, at that time a dealer could spec a custom color from one of the other GM car lines at an additional cost. Your paint finish looks very smooth and the stripes look as thou they are painted rather than decaled. The tires look like the old Good Year '70's era NASCAR tires ?
crazyjim Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 Build came out really nice. Love the engine details.
kelson Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Very nice build!!,nice to see you added a bracket to the alternator and I like the inspection sticker.
Buffs Fan Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 In the words of Sir Joseph Dirt "DANG" this is a beautiful build and the color choice was on the money
