Yep, got mine today. Never had the Lightning version before.  Has the flare side tailgate.  I think I have a spare long bed '93 I bought for parts a while back, can use the tailgate from it (or was the Lightning tailgate trim unique) ?

That’s a big mistake. But if they have the Flareside tailgate tooled up, does that mean we can expect a Flareside re-release in the future?

Makes me wish I'd kept the '94 Lightning press kit I had ^_^

Good article here from Motor Trend...

Thanks for digging up that old review, Mike.   SVT Lightning owners loved their trucks, for all the reasons cited in that review  The second gen Lightning, even more-so.  I clearly recall that just as the article mentions, the lack of legroom in the first gen standard cab was really the only shortcoming of that vehicle and in the light of all the other benefits, not much to complain about.

Someday before I die I'll recap the adventures during my first media event as the SVT leader when one of our  Marketing/Public Affairs personnel got a little carried away driving an SVT Lightning the morning of the event.... makes me smile now.  Back then, not quite so much.    TIM

I was looking at the box bottom at Hobby Lobby, and the narrow tailgate is actually shown on the sprue layout on the bottom. It is directly across from the hood. When (and if) AMT fixes it, will they correct the box bottom too? I hope so.

I got mine today and the Flareside tailgate is on the sprue and full width tailgate is in a separate bag all by itself.

Anyone know why the kits tires are blank instead of Goodyear or some kind of Firestone tires?

I've heard that the F-250 rails were used, I remember when I looked at one at the dealer back when, one of the mechanics said the frames were from trucks designated for snow plow fitting. Not sure if that is the same.

Only a tool insert away. If the market warrants it, you'll see it.
